Venezuelan gangs take over 4 apt complexes - San Antonio
Posted by: pianopraze - 10-18-2024, 07:15 AM - Forum: Social Issues & Civil Unrest - Replies (1)

"Only a handful - a handful." ~ media probably

Not the bee

Quote:Report: Venezuelan gangs have taken over 4 different apartment complexes, this time in San Antonio

They are expanding South American drug and prostitution rings into major American cities! Once-great cities like San Antonio.

Texas authorities raided one San Antonio apartment complex, searching the over 300 units, and ended up making 19 arrests, including 5 confirmed gang members and 15 illegal immigrants.

There are at least three more complexes that are operation centers for the Venezuelan gang.
yeah.. this gotta stop.

If only all politics was this bizarre.

https://www.cbs8.com/article/news/nation...8db4f72b5e

Quote:Kennedy’s daughter recalled the whale incident in a 2012 interview with Town and Country magazine, which recently resurfaced and was shared extensively on social media. Kathleen Kennedy said when she was 6 years old, her dad got word that a dead whale had washed ashore. He got a chainsaw, cut off the whale’s head and strapped it to the roof of their minivan for a five-hour drive home.

“Every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would pour into the windows of the car, and it was the rankest thing on the planet,” Kathleen Kennedy recalls. “We all had plastic bags over our heads with mouth holes cut out, and people on the highway were giving us the finger, but that was just normal day-to-day stuff for us.”

It's perfectly normal to collect dead bears and drop them off in parks, and it's a perfectly natural response to want to cut off a beached whale head with a chainsaw and drive it home on the roof of your vehicle.

The Sunday drives. "Okay, today were going to Canada and tranquilizing several wolves to try to get them to pull our mini van like sled dogs! Come on kids!"

Kinda seems like growing up with a cartoon character as your father.

* Edit - Story 1 month old. Thought it was new and missed it the first time. Still weird-funny. Like he enjoys trolling environmentalists.

  Hello fellow humans please help
Posted by: UltraBudgie - 10-17-2024, 04:07 PM - Forum: Military Projects - Replies (6)

Hello I am playing military project role playing game with my fellow human friends and would like input from community here!

The question given was would this be fraud or illegal activity to introduce this in role playing game? I went hmm and thought:

Yes, if the Department of Defense (DoD) were to develop or deploy technology to fabricate online personas that are indistinguishable from real people, it could raise several ethical, legal, and constitutional concerns, potentially involving fraudulent or other illegal activities.

Here are some considerations:

1. Fraud:

Fraud involves deception to secure unfair or unlawful gain. Creating fake personas to interact online, particularly if those personas engage in activities such as misrepresentation or false communication, could be considered a form of fraud if they deceive individuals, businesses, or governments for personal, political, or strategic gain. This would apply especially if the intent is to manipulate people or mislead them into making decisions based on false information.

2. Impersonation:

Impersonating a real person or creating an online identity that mimics a real person’s characteristics (such as name, background, or professional history) could be considered illegal. Many jurisdictions have laws against identity theft and impersonation. If these fabricated personas mimic real people to manipulate or deceive, it could be a violation of such laws.

3. Disinformation and Propaganda:

The use of fake personas to spread disinformation or propaganda could violate laws, especially if done within democratic societies where free speech is protected but manipulating public discourse or elections with false information can be illegal. In some countries, laws are being developed to address deepfakes and other AI-generated disinformation.

4. First Amendment Violations (U.S.-specific):

In the U.S., such activities could raise First Amendment issues if the fake personas are used to influence public opinion or speech in ways that hinder the free exchange of ideas or suppress legitimate speech. Using such technology within the U.S. could also lead to constitutional challenges if it infringes on civil rights or manipulates political discourse.

5. Violation of Privacy Rights:

Fabricating personas to spy on or interact with real people under false pretenses could violate privacy laws. Many countries have strong data privacy laws that prohibit the misuse of personal information. Engaging with individuals under the guise of a fake identity could breach these laws.

6. Psychological and Social Harm:

If these fabricated personas engage in psychological manipulation or coercion (e.g., by interacting with people online in emotionally or politically sensitive situations), this could cause social harm and, depending on the tactics, might also be considered psychological manipulation, which could be illegal in some contexts.

Please help me participate in fun role playing game by telling me what you fellow humans think, including details about your specific selves! Thank you!

Pictures and videos from NTTR and surrounding areas
Posted by: n01b4flash - 10-17-2024, 06:46 AM - Forum: Aircraft Projects - Replies (11)

Dear DI members,

this is my first thread (and post) here. Firstly, I would like to say hello to everyone and welcome to my thread.

Since October 2022, I've completed five separate trips to the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) for aircraft spotting. Since I was twelve, I always wanted to visit my favourite Air Force US locations and after about 14 years of long awaiting period, I managed to see two of the most important and secure (indeed!) ones - Groom Lake and Tonopah Test Range, for the first time.

Long story short, I think it is safe to assume that most regular users here have seen my productions already, so there is no point to describe each trip extensively but I would be delighted to share some links that, I hope, everyone will find interesting.

Let's take a look, then...

Cancelled Test at Groom after base's UH-60 spots me on Tikaboo! October 12, 2023:
https://dreamlandresort.com/trip_reports/trip_185.html
Discovering new spot NORTH of TTR, April 15-16, 2024:
https://dreamlandresort.com/trip_reports/trip_186.html

NTTR from inside, 7-11 May 2023:
https://dreamlandresort.com/trip_reports/trip_183.html
You are welcome to visit and subscribe my YouTube channel (n01_b4_flash): www.youtube.com/@n01_b4_flash-ev5jb

At the same point, I would like to say that both of the locations are still pretty much active and there is plenty of operations during a day (as well as at night) that are regularly undertaken, for instance:

[-] F-117's are still pretty active with at least two of them flying for training sorties out of TTR on a daily basis (I managed to see them three out of five times I was up there) - they are flying for about 1,5-2 hours for a day and then RTB.
[-] Groom-based UH-60 still investigates spotters/climbers atop of Tikaboo Peak, especially if they are supposed to launch something black.
[-] TTR sometimes is to be visited by at least several cargo / transport planes at the same day, then fly a few missions, then get back to TTR.

... and more to come soon, hopefully.

I welcome any questions in regarding to my sightings, trips and everything else that is related to that very subject of me. I will be happy to answer, discuss and extend on everything that may be a point of interests  Wink

Cheers

What Do You Expect to Happen When You Die? And why?
Posted by: FlyersFan - 10-17-2024, 04:41 AM - Forum: Psychology, Philosophy & Metaphysics - Replies (9)

I did this thread at ATS a while back.
Let's give it a try  here.

What do you expect to happen when you die and why do you expect it?

Are you expecting to go to Heaven or Hell or Purgatory?
Reward by being with God in perfect paradise, or the exact opposite in Hell with loss of God and all is wrong?
Or is it the Muslim version of 'paradise'?  Lots of food banquets and sex.
Or the nirvana version ... losing yourself and melding back with the perfect 'one'.
(Hope I got that right)
Are you expecting to be reincarnated?
Are you expecting to pop out of your body and wander around as a spirit?
Are you expecting obliteration?  Nothingness?
Do you not expect anything and you just take it as it comes?
What do you think is going to happen ... and why do you think it?

I've experienced spirits, both good and bad, so I know they exist.
I've experienced ghosts which means that either at least some people have an afterlife, or that means the evil spirits are pretending to be dead people to get you to interact with them.  I don't know which.
I've experienced supernatural things and seen amazing things in Medjugorje on pilgrimage.
I also believe I've had prayers answered so I believe God exists.
But belief in those doesn't necessarily mean that you have to believe in an afterlife.

My religious background tells me to expect Heaven, Hell or Purgatory.   However, some of the stories of reincarnation are very convincing, so I do have an open mind that sometimes God may allow/send people back to do it again.  That's His business and I wouldn't argue with someone if they think they are reincarnated.  It's a depressing thought .. having to come back and do it all again and not even remembering anything about what you have lived before.

But then we come to the stories of Near Death Experiences.   Everyone has probably read some of them.   I've read that MOST people who have Near Death Experiences .. experience NOTHING.  Yep.  90% of people who have cardiac arrest, die, and then are revived say they experienced nothing.  The void.  Obliteration.  It's only 10% that have the classic meetings with dead people or the tunnel and the loving bright light .. etc etc.   And scientists are studying to see if those 10% who have those classic NDE experiences are having hallucinations from a dying brain or from chemicals the body is releasing as it dies ... they have found that parts of the brain remain active for six minutes after the heart stops.  The brain could be producing all sorts of fanciful events for the dead/dying person to experience during that time.

Anyways ... what do you expect to happen and why do you expect it?

  USAF B-2s hit Houthi targets
Posted by: Zaphod58 - 10-16-2024, 11:52 PM - Forum: The Middle East - Replies (15)

At least two USAF B-2 Spirit bombers launched from Whiteman AFB in Missouri as SARGE11 and SARGE21, and struck at least five Houthi underground weapons storage facilities, with US Navy assets in the region assisting.  The aircraft would have refueled multiple times both to and from the region, and most likely are returning to Whiteman as their recovery base.

Aircraft from the 13th Bomb Squadron, 509th Bomb Wing, and Missouri Air National Guard 131st Bomb Wing, most likely carrying BLU-109, 2,000 pound bombs. It's unknown how many aircraft were involved yet, but it may have been four aircraft. The callsigns were reported as SARGE11 Flight and SARGE21 Flight, which would indicate multiple aircraft with each callsign.

Quote:While ZipRecruiter is seeing annual salaries as high as $172,500 and as low as $23,500, the majority of Full Time Crack Head salaries currently range between $79,500 (25th percentile) to $105,500 (75th percentile) with top earners (90th percentile) making $141,000 annually across the United States. The average pay range for a Full Time Crack Head varies greatly (by as much as $26,000), which suggests there may be many opportunities for advancement and increased pay based on skill level, location and years of experience.

The ghost of Norm MacDonald?

Is this a construction slang of some sort, like a type of masonry or grout-related thing? What is this I found googling "What is the average salary of a crack head?" Apparently Berkeley, CA has the highest paid crack heads of all.

I really can't explain why I find this so amusing or even why I was compelled to google crack head salary after getting asked for money again, but there you go.

Maybe this belongs as a cannabis PSA. I smoked it, and now I'm posting about Crack head jobs.

Washington DC October 2024 UFO crash?

I’ve been avoiding this one as all the videos so far have just shown a contrail claiming there was a crash like this one: Twitter link

Well today it’s getting out of hand. They are claiming the YouTube video below is the DC supposed crash.

i don’t know if anything crashed, but the video and pictures they are circulating now are from NC last January 2024 and were planes with Pyrotechnics.

here is an example misleading Twitter post: Link

here is the YouTube video proving it is planes:

I will update if I find any more info. Many are claiming there was a crash. So I am not discounting that. Just trying to pull back and debunk the added misinformation that’s being posted now.

FBI stealth edit crime data increasing 6.6%
Posted by: pianopraze - 10-16-2024, 01:25 PM - Forum: Social Issues & Civil Unrest - Replies (7)

The FBI has stealth edited its 2022 crime data increasing it 6.6 percent. Far from the decrease in crime of 2 percent the White House and mainstream media have been trumpeting, crime increased well over 4 percent.

This still does not reflect over 6,000 departments that have failed to report including some of the largest including some LAPD and NYPD departments in which a lot of crime occurs. If those reported it would drive the FBI crime rate still higher.

Fact checkers have repeatedly used this FBI statistic to "fact check" Trump and say he’s lying.

So why release the stealth update now? My guess is to soften the blow of the 2023 statistics which are going to be even higher. [edit - removed speculation which might cause confusion]

Regardless of the reason it shows, again, we can not trust government statistics  White House and media tout. The jobs report was revised downward by almost 1 million - over 800k.

Such deceit, if not out right blatant lying needs to be punished.

Reports are on real clear investigation and Tim Pools reporting below.

Real clear investigations

Quote:When the FBI originally released the “final” crime data for 2022 in September 2023, it reported that the nation’s violent crime rate fell by 2.1%. This quickly became, and remains, a Democratic Party talking point to counter Donald Trump’s claims of soaring crime.

But the FBI has quietly revised those numbers, releasing new data that shows violent crime increased in 2022 by 4.5%. The new data includes thousands more murders, rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults.

USA Today
Quote:The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on Wednesday revised down its estimate of total employment in March 2024 by 818,000, the largest such downgrade in 15 years. That effectively means there were 818,000 fewer job gains than first believed from April 2023 through March 2024.

Marshal project
Quote:2020, almost every law enforcement agency was included in the FBI’s database. Some agencies reported topline numbers, such as the total number of murders or car thefts, through the Summary Reporting System. Others reported granular incident data with details about each reported crime through the newer National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS).

Then it all changed in 2021. In an effort to fully modernize the system, the FBI stopped taking data from the old summary system and only accepted data through the new system. Thousands of police agencies fell through the cracks because they didn’t catch up with the changes on time.

More than 6,000 law enforcement agencies were missing …
representing nearly one-third of the nation’s 18,000 police agencies. This means a quarter of the U.S. population wasn't represented in the federal crime data

Independence of mind requires sustained submission to authority
Posted by: UltraBudgie - 10-16-2024, 10:59 AM - Forum: Education & Media - Replies (6)

The Hedgehog Review, which is usually worth reading, has published a non-paywalled version of Matthew Crawford's recent essay from his substack, which is also usually worth reading.

The essay is about the role of conformity in education, and I found it fascinating, although I disagree with much of it; he presents his points well.

Quote:The paradoxical thesis I wish to consider is this: Real independence of mind can be won only by a sustained process of submission to authority. There is a related paradox: A democratic society, precisely because it requires such independence of thought if it is to be something other than mob rule, requires education conducted with an aristocratic ethos.
...
According to the new liberalism that Locke helped to articulate, political freedom requires intellectual independence. This is the anti-authoritarian mindset Tocqueville was struck by as he traveled around America. He said that Americans were Cartesians without having read Descartes. Descartes, like Locke, insisted on a kind of epistemic self-sufficiency, rejecting all established customs and received opinions. I myself should be the source of all my knowledge; otherwise it is not knowledge. This is the positive image of freedom that emerges when you pursue far enough the negative goal of being free from authority.

But this brings with it a certain anxiety: If I have to stand on my own two feet, epistemically, how can I be sure that my knowledge really is knowledge?

Here is the link to the essay in full:

Why Individualism Fails to Create Individuals: Independence of mind requires sustained submission to authority.

I'm of the opinion that the evolved education system actually works in two ways.  First, for those with the temperament, it creates either useful conformists or scholars who can build upon and propagate knowledge within the established system.  Second, for those it fails, it inspires a rejectionism and desperation that forces the non-conformist to find their own, unique path.  These institutions are the fingers squeezing the watermelon seed, so it squirts the hell away from all the established baggage and finds its own arc.

This reminds me of Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra, where he discusses "going up the mountain" of individual communion with truth, and the subsequent act of "coming back down", carrying what was learned back into the realm of everyday life.  If we don't have at least some grasp on the vocabulary, semantics, and trends of the current authority, how can what is learned be used to affect change?  It would remain merely immiscible mercury.

I am posting this here because I think this is a somewhat unique venue of individuals for whom established educational channels and traditional authority has "failed".  What are your experiences with traditional education and pedagogy?

  North Vs South Korea
Posted by: agit8dchop - 10-16-2024, 05:50 AM - Forum: Current Events - Replies (3)

For decades we've gotten used to North Korea playing their games and occasionally throwing their toys out of the crib. Are we about to find out there's another side to North Korea?

4 months ago in June, Putin went to North Korea and gifted Kim Jong a luxury security vehicle - the same one Putin drives (symbolic). They made deals, shook hands and walked about Friends. It was Putin's first overseas trip in over 4years.
Putin gifts luxury Aurus car to North Korea's Kim (bbc.com)

[ex]Kim Jong Un declared his "full support and solidarity" for Russia over its invasion of Ukraine, while Putin thanked Kim for his "unwavering support".
Then, to top it off, the two signed a surprise military pact declaring each side would assist the other in the face of aggression.[/ex]
Vladimir Putin went to North Korea looking for friends, but he may have helped arm his enemy - ABC News

This doesn't feel like a baby throwing the rattles out of the crib moment anymore. North Korea could be the perfect vector for Russia to throw a jab at the west in the side of the Kidneys. How far will the west go to save South Korea? how much of a distraction and drain on resources and aid would it be?

This is why this event today makes me wonder what's going on - why did North Korea just destroy roads and bridges linking them to South Korea?

  Zelensky's Peace Plan
Posted by: agit8dchop - 10-16-2024, 05:26 AM - Forum: War In Ukraine - Replies (8)

So, for weeks, maybe months we've been hearing about Zelensky's peace plan. Anyone who's been following this war is pretty aware that any kind of 'victory' against Russia is near fanciful.
I'm unable to confirm the source on this, but Zelensky's peace plan has apparently been released in some circles. It consists of:

1. Invitation to join Nato
2. Domestically sourced and internationally aided Defense
3. Non-Nuclear Strategic Deterrence
4. Economic Strength
5. Post-war battle-hardened army

Now, this just feels like more of the same. Considering the accusations that Kiev and Moscow came to a peace agreement in 2022 and the British PM (on instruction from Washington) killed the deal and forced Ukraine to fight.
Add to this the suspicions of rampant drug use in Zelensky's private arena, accusations of serious corruption and grifting of the billions in aid given you start to wonder what's really going on.

It seems almost daily now there's footage uploaded of Ukranian Soldiers kidnapping Ukranian men off the streets, from parties, shops, disco's and forcing them into the army. Ukraine has suspended elections and banned certain religions. Yet, we're told this is a battle for democracy and freedom. It sure feels like anything but.

So how is this peace plan going to work? There wont be a joining of NATO anytime soon and even if there is I think it will cause the collapse of NATO. Not all European nations are on board with this endless and pointless war and certainly wont survive their own political institutions if they send their young men to die in a war. Any kind of domestic industry aimed at military munitions will quickly be droned, bombed and destroyed by Russia. Non-Nuclear Strategic defense seems.. pointless.. Against a nuclear adversary you're just shooting spitballs at tanks. Economic Strength shouldn't include foreign aid and a post-war battle hardened is a fairy tail when you're kidnapping men off the street's forcing them to fight.

So where does this end?

Will Ukraine and Russia make a peace deal? - I don't think the relationship between Europe and Russia will ever recover.
Will Zelensky survive? - Surely not, if the Western Powers don't kill him, certainly his own people will when they realize the corruption and theft he was involved in.
Will Ukraine lose? - Possibly, I don't see Russia wanting to be an occupying power like the US in Iraq - so is this the most 'stomachable' outcome?
Will Russia lose? - Doubtful - if they were going to go down, they would have via internal politics.
What if Trump wins the election? - I think he'll force Ukraine to secede the eastern slither of land and call it a day.
What if Harris (CIA + Deep state) wins the election? -  who, bloody, knows! How far are they really willing to push this?
Will we likely see the first use of nuclear weapons since Nagasaki? - I think we probably will at some point see a small, tactical strike in the eastern Ukranian area.

Whats your thoughts? will Zelenskys Peace plan make a lick of different and how is this war going to end?

IDF Finds Hamas Weapons Trove in United Nations Clinic in Gaza
Posted by: FlyersFan - 10-16-2024, 04:54 AM - Forum: The Middle East - Replies (2)

Another day in Gaza ... another finding of weapons and munitions in 'civilian infrastructure', and this one was a clinic run by the United Nations notorious UNRWA.   Certain groups in the West whine about Israel bombing hospitals and schools ... but these hospitals and schools are constantly being used by Hamas and their sympathizers for weapons and munitions, and for the terrorists themselves to hide out in.   And obviously the UNRWA staff know about the weapons and terrorists being there.  It's not like they are discrete and hide from the locals.  You can't hide that kid of thing.

The teachers in the UNRWA schools in Gaza were all terrorist sympathizers, and some were even Hamas itself.  https://unwatch.org/thousands-of-unrwa-s...terrorism/   The schools have school books teaching the palestinian kids that all of Israel is palestinian and that Israel doesn't exist.   And Hamas uses the UNRWA schools and clinics as weapons depots and hide outs.

Trump had stopped sending aid money to UNRWA.  He cut them off.  Biden started the aid back up again.   It is clear that not one penny of our tax money should be going to UNRWA.   Whoever the next president is, they need to cut UNRWA off for good.

What do you think are the best movies ever made?
Posted by: FlyersFan - 10-15-2024, 04:21 PM - Forum: Movies - Replies (35)

1 - Godfather II.  (1974 with Al Pacino)

2 - Ten Commandments (1956 with Charleton Heston)

3 - Ben Hur (1959 with Charleton Heston)

4 - Star Wars 4 & 5  (really 1 & 2) (1977 and 1980 with Mark Hamell)  I chose these because they were groundbreaking and no one had ever seen anything like it before.  I remember seeing Star Wars 4 (it was 1 back then), and being in awe at what I had seen.

5 - Song of Bernadette (1943 with Jennifer Jones)

6 - The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima (1952)

Do Spoken Words Have Metaphysical Power?

Do Spoken Words Have Metaphysical Power?
Or is thinking that they do just superstition?

Example

- If you say to someone who is sick ... the disease you have will mean that you are going to end up using a walker .. do your words have the power to make it more likely to happen?

Another example

- If a lot of people all get together and say the same thing to a person  ... you will be cured of the disease that you are suffering from... do your words have the power to make it more likely to happen?

Twice this past week I have heard two very different people say the same thing ... to be careful what you say because your words have power and can make things happen.   (and these are not the new age kind of people who you would expect to hear it from).

I've heard this kind of thing said when I was a kid growing up in Connecticut.
New England has lots of these kinds of old saying.

So do you think there is some kind of metaphysical truth to it?  Or is it superstition?

Satanic Temple Opens Religious Ritual Abortion Clinic
Posted by: FlyersFan - 10-15-2024, 02:19 PM - Forum: Religion, Faith, & Theology - Replies (7)

If I"m reading this correctly - this Satanic Temple, which has it's HQ in Salem Massachusetts, is offering abortion medications and is offering to help pay for transportation to receive them.  They are incorporating the abortions into their Satanic services, calling them the 'destructive ritual',  which happen twice a week and is broadcast online.

WOW.

Satanic Temple Opens Religious Ritual Abortion Clinic

Quote:The Satanic Temple opened a second telehealth abortion facility to provide what it describes as “religious abortion services,” and sees the killing of pre-born babies as part of its “destruction ritual.”

Despite its name, TST is not affiliated with the Church of Satan, an organization founded by Anton Szandor LaVey in the 1960s. TST also has its headquarters in Salem, Massachusetts, where it holds two virtual satanic Temple services each week.

TST announced in a press release provided to The Christian Post that its new 24/7 telehealth abortion facility, “Right to Your Life Satanic Abortion Clinic,” will open in Virginia. Women will be charged a fee to obtain abortion-inducing drugs, but the group claims it will help pay for some travel-related expenses.

In a TST document shared with CP, the group claims that abortion is part of its "destruction ritual that serves as a protective rite."
