What do you think are the best movies ever made? - FlyersFan - 10-15-2024 1 - Godfather II. (1974 with Al Pacino) 2 - Ten Commandments (1956 with Charleton Heston) 3 - Ben Hur (1959 with Charleton Heston) 4 - Star Wars 4 & 5 (really 1 & 2) (1977 and 1980 with Mark Hamell) I chose these because they were groundbreaking and no one had ever seen anything like it before. I remember seeing Star Wars 4 (it was 1 back then), and being in awe at what I had seen. 5 - Song of Bernadette (1943 with Jennifer Jones) 6 - The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima (1952) RE: What do you think are the best movies ever made? - Coop - 10-15-2024 Add Tombstone Ive always loved The Ten Commandments RE: What do you think are the best movies ever made? - KKLoco - 10-15-2024 I love Ben-Hur and the 10 Commandments. I own both of them. They don’t make epics like they used to. Spartacus was good. So was Cleopatra (even though I’m not fond of Liz Taylor). More recent I’d say Braveheart, Gladiator, and the Matrix. I reference The Usual Suspects all the time. Just did it a couple hours ago. At my local hangout having lunch. The owner and I are discussing purchasing a big restaurant together. The current owner of said restaurant, cashed in over $100 million on a Houston development. Came here where I live and bought a shit ton of properties. The guy I was talking to today said “If I had $100 million, you’d never see me again!” I replied “Kaiser Soze, and like that whoo — he’s gone!” I’d be Kaiser Soze given the right circumstances. I’m currently working on it…. RE: What do you think are the best movies ever made? - sahgwa - 10-16-2024 No one gonna say Fight Club? I think it's a classic and very well written, great book too of course. I agree with Ben Hur and Godfather for sure. Also Mockingbird, and Full Metal Jacket, Bladerunner. Great picks I would add ... 2001 Space Odyssey Once Upon a Time in the West Howabout some modern picks? What do you think in inclusion in 'all time' Paul Thomas Anderson's: There Will be Blood The Master? (10-15-2024, 05:04 PM)KKLoco Wrote: I love Ben-Hur and the 10 Commandments. I own both of them. I still need to check out Cleopatra. Good call on the other ones. Interesting choice with Matrix as an epic. |
