Trump is in talks with Russia to end the war
(03-01-2025, 10:08 AM)putnam6 Wrote: Zelensky says he is ready to sign a minerals agreement with the U.S.

Nothing has changed since yesterday.

He said he was ready to sign the minerals agreement yesterday too.

And then, after it was agreed on, he tried to sneak in that America needs to provide more 'security arrangements' (boots on the ground).

He is saying the same thing today that he said yesterday.   No change.  He claims there is an agreement ... and then he adds the words 'BUT we want more .... '.   So that's not an agreement.

We are not going to give him more 'security agreements'.  There will be no American boots on the ground and there will be no NATO membership.   That's what he's pushing for.

Yeah .. he did.
On the TV news he said he wanted 'peacekeepers'.
That's boots on the ground.
And our people aren't going in.
That's the bottom line.

Zelensky's approval rating has got higher.

Even the opposition support him and there is no calling for elections:

Trump-Zelensky meeting: I want the US to stand more firmly on our side, says Zelensky after Trump showdown - latest - BBC News

"Volodymyr Zelensky says he wants "the US to stand more firmly on our side", after what he describes as a "tough dialogue" with Trump

He adds that Ukraine is ready to sign the US-proposed minerals deal, but needs security guarantees from Washington".

Pretty consistent, no?

It's simple logistics,

As Trump suggested why would he sign a deal for Ukrainian rare earth minerals if he wouldn't be able to exploit said minerals because there is a war going on?

What Trump will do is rebuild infrastructure and improve mining operations in Ukraine and he damn sure isn't going to put American sub-contractors in harm's way. After all most of Ukraine's abled-bodied persons are fighting.

It would be too of an expensive startup and uninsurable and lack security just off the top of my head.

Yep.
And others disagree with Kellogg.

Bottom line ... accounted for or not ... it's a corrupt government and a waste of money.

Our billions have been paying for the corrupt government to have 'pensions'
and our billions have been pumped into their economy to 'keep it going'.
At the same time 1/5 of our children go to bed hungry, our schools are failing,
and our elderly are becoming the largest growing population of homeless in the
country.

It's an unending war.   An unending suck on our finances.   And if we send people
it would be an unending meat grinder because Ukraine is running out of people to
send to war.

I agree with (Democrat) Obama from 2014 and the last time Russia invaded Ukraine ...
it's a regional war for the players to
figure out and for Europe to take care of.  It's THEIR back yard.  If they are afraid
of Putin expanding (and they should be), then THEY can send their money and THEY
can send their troops.

Russia is the bad guy.   They should not be allowed to win.  But they are going to.
No matter how much money America or Europe throw at it .. no matter how many
troops they throw at it ...   Unless you want to jump to WWIII.  That's the next step
to end an unending war.

Then Russia will lose.

The UK and some European countries have offered their boots.

Maybe everyone should rethink sharing Ukraine's resources with France, Turkiye and perhaps others that are willing to put boots on the ground as peace keepers. But how to kick Putin out of Ukraine's occupied territories? Any ideas?

BBC .. yeah .. there's some unbiased reporting ... sure ... pffft.

Honestly don't give a rats backend what BBC opinion pieces say.
It's all left wing opinion and social engineering.  That's what the 'free' press is.

Ukrainians are reacting as predicted.  They are used to getting free money and free security from America and Europe.  When America says we aren't supporting that anymore, they get upset.  The gravy train has ended.  They don't like it.

Trump and Vance were not rude.   Zelenskyy was.   And he fucked up.   The agreement was done in private and was all set, and then in front of the cameras he insults the Vice President and he tries to insert 'security agreements' into the agreement knowing that America would reject it.  He tried to pull a fast one and use pressure from the press to get what he wants.   But Trump isn't a Biden pushover.   Zelenskyy got what he deserved.

And again ... no ... I"m not MAGA nor am I a Trump fan.
So I'm not speaking from some partisan tomfoolery loyalty to Trump.

Errr just because a person has a point one agrees with doesn't mean you agree with every opinion a person may have.

Bottom line America said enough after we saw how little Americans were assisted in the Maui fires and the Helene aftermath. It's not just military AID either we are paying certain Ukrainians salaries and Social Security.
