While most offenders across England and Wales are from the White ethnic group in absolute numbers (78% of arrests in 2022/23), Black individuals are disproportionately over-represented relative to their population size. Black people were 2.2 times as likely to be arrested as white people nationwide. Peterborough's population is predominantly White (75.4% in the 2021 Census), with Asian and Black residents making up 14.3% and 4.1% respectively. National data on ethnicity in the criminal justice system suggests a general over-representation of some ethnic minorities in arrests, particularly in urban areas.

The framing is misleading for a start.

Quoting "over-representation" without context implies racism.

But it ignores the socioeconomic, geographic, and policing factors involved.

Most black people here in the UK are concentrated in urban, high-crime, highly policed areas(Cities and large towns).

Which somewhat increases the likelihood of arrest regardless of your race.

And the "2.2 times as likely" statistic conflates correlation with causation.

Arrests measure policing encounters, not guilt or inherent criminality.

I think the apology should come from the ones making the racist statements or cherry-picking data to support their dubious claims, but that's just me.

I don't think there’s any credible evidence that Black people are inherently more criminal or commit more crimes in the UK.

Or if there is, presenting it might be nice.

I don't know about over there. But the way we like to do it here. Is count things a certain way. Here we have mass shootings, which they don't mind telling us is committed by predominantly white guys.

But we still have drive by's, bye's, and lots of them listed in the news. Where one or more individuals shoot at a mass of other individuals, in a populated area. But oddly enough they are not considered mass shootings. They are drive by's. Which honestly sounds better than mass shooting. Even thought they are shooting at a mass of people in public/populated area, they are just doing it from a car. 

Like I said I don't know about there, but you will not get any real statistics here.
