A shooter killed six people inside Tumbler Ridge Secondary School before dying from an apparent self-inflicted wound nearby; two more deaths occurred at a connected residence, and another victim died en route to hospital, leaving at least 25 injured. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police described the woman with brown hair in a dress as the suspect but withheld her name amid an ongoing probe into motive. All about 100 students and staff evacuated safely after the chaos around 1:20 p.m., while leaders including Prime Minister Mark Carney offered condolences to the devastated community of 2,400.
