What famous people have you seen in real life?
#31
I shortened this, I have met and talked to a few famous people, but not nearly as many as others have.

Skateboard legend from Venice. Z-Boys.

He was a character.

Yes, I know who is well, never got to meet him but I’ve seen vids of him skating he’s one of the best. I pretty much grew up on a skateboard.  Speaking of z-boys I had one of the first Tony Alva prototype boards, wish I still had it, they’re worth a lot of money now.  I did get the opportunity to skate with Stacy Peralta and Tony Alva at the pipes in Tempe, Az in the mid 70’s.  They were also filming there.   Flashback to some of the best times growing up ever.

Lessee now.  I saw Nipsey Russell in a Boy's Market in West Hollywood.   I saw Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward at Kerr's in Beverly Hills,  where I worked.   There I also saw Neil Diamond and  Toni Tenille.  She was really something.   She was one hell of a woman.

I saw Jim Hutton eating at a hot dog stand in West Hollywood.  I saw Hal Linden driving a light blue station wagon in the same area.

I saw up close and personal in concert:
Michael Hedges several times
Donna Summer - amazing
Chaka Kahn - also amazing
Stanley Jordan - beyond belief
Eldridge Cleaver

I met Julian Bond in a bookstore in Santa Monica where he was signing books.
I met Robert B. Parker in South San Francisco where he was signing books.  I met Billy Broad when I briefly played with his band whilst the lead guitar was out.

I met all the group of Talking Heads at Madame Wong's in L.A. in the early 80's.

Further away:

In 1963 when I turned eight, my parents took me to one of the swankiest restaurants in town and Tennessee Ernie Ford was there and got up and sang happy birthday to me. I was so embarrassed.

That must have been wonderful, as well as embarrassing.  Tennessee Ernie Ford was a part of my childhood, because he sang the song "River of No Return", which was about the Salmon River, in Salmon Idaho, in which I lived.   The song played every noon, just after the noon whistle.   Mr. Ford's song played just before "Platter Playtime", which highlighted the 'best' cuts of the day, at least according to the staff at Salmon, Idaho.

Tennessee Ernie Ford had such amazing vocal control.  He was a treasure.   You were blessed to have him sing to you.   Thumbup Thumbup

We have a similar taste in music. BOC was my first concert I ever went to.   I wish I could’ve seen LZ. Probably my biggest regret as far as concerts go.  Them and Pink Floyd.

Katherine Hepburn.  Met her in a store doing her Christmas shopping.  Also took Sergei Brin (Google founder) scuba diving on a number of occasions.

My mother met her as well.
My mother was working behind the counter at a dept store in Hartford CT.
Hepburn came in.
She described Hepburn as 'elegant'.

Woody Harrelson at LAX, he approached me in a golf cart of some sort.  Super friendly, made me laugh!

James Taylor at a party,  nice guy

Former FBI Agent from Missing411 film at my job once, didn’t realize it til I saw the movie.  He was super impressive.  Left a lasting impression.

Saw Jesus in church once.  My favorite

Lol   I gotta' know if you were working the party or if you were invited.
Because if you were an invited guest and you are hanging with celebs
of his stature ... that's sounding pretty fun.
