What famous people have you seen in real life?

Me ...

Saint Mother Teresa - I was stationed in Japan as a Chaplain Assistant.   Our office sponsored Saint Mother Teresa to come to give a talk to the troops.  I was part of the set up crew and assisting people who wanted to meet her.   I got to meet her and stood about five feet from her for quite a while.   She was a tiny woman and very soft spoken.  When she spoke, everyone was completely silent and strained to hear her.

Mother Angelica - famous in Catholic circles.  She founded EWTN and had the live show "Mother Angelica Live".   For 8 years we went to classes she gave weekends at her monastery.  Will probably end up having the title 'Servant of God' at some point.  Maybe will be elevated to 'blessed or saint' - we'll see what the Vatican does - her cause isn't open yet.

Cardinal Arinze - famous in Catholic circles.   25 years ago when we met him he was considered on the short list for being next pope.   Got a picture of him with our daughter who was a toddler at the time.   Really impressed with him.  Nice man.    Smart too.

Wayne Rogers - 'Trapper John' from MASH.   Saw him when I was stationed in Japan.   I was walking down a street in Tokyo and saw him at a sidewalk cafe with friends.   He stood out ... very tall and blondish ... in a sea of short people with black hair.    I talked to him for a minute or two.

Michael J. Fox - At ComicCon in Philadelphia.

Kevin Sorbo - At ComicCon in Philadelphia.

Stan Lee - At ComicCon in Philadelphia.

William Shatner - At ComicCon in Philadelphia.

Cast of Charmed (minus Alyssa Milano) - At ComicCon in Philadelphia.

Lou Ferrigno (spellling?) - ComicCon in Philadelphia.

President George W. Bush - Twice - Once at a speech in Philadelphia and once at Arlington Cemetery in DC.

First Lady Laura Bush - Once at Arlington Cemetery in DC

President Donald Trump - Once at a speech in Delaware.

President Joseph Biden and wife - Once at Mass.  We were in a pew waiting for Mass to start and they walked in and sat next to us.   My husband went to communion behind him in line.   We've seen his motorcade a half dozen times as well.
We live about 10 minutes from him.

Nancy Pelosi - At Arlington Cemetery in DC

Gary Sinese - At Arlington Cemetery in DC

Van Halen - Went to the concert in San Antonio Texas.

Styx - Went to the concert in Springfield, Mass.

Rush - Went to the concert in Springfield, Mass.

Yes - Went to the concert in Hartford, Connecticut.

Trans Siberian Orchestra - Went to the concert in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.

Mother the monster
Sept. 5 marked the one-year anniversary of Agnes Bojaxhiu`s death. Her life was a phenomenon like no other.Millions of people have bought into the myth that she was a benevolent humanitarian. In reality, the neurotic little woman from Yugoslavia, better known as Mother Teresa, was a hideous monster. She was an unprincipled thief who contributed to the world`s suffering in the name of her delusional mysticism. In short, she was a disgusting human and the world is a better place with her absence.

Comparatively boring but never really wanted to meet anyone “famous”

Recently, we met Lewis Capaldi, who was watching my daughter's band do a gig at the "Record Factory" in Glasgow's West End.
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

Would be pretty starstruck to meet William Shatner mate - not because of Star Trek but because of 'Nightmare at 20,000 Feet'!

Twilight Zone - Episode 123

Once met Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin and he seemed like a really nice chap.

He looked fat, old, and tired.
Had his head in his hand, which was on a table.
He looked miserable to be there.
But still cool to see him.

We saw Judd Nelson in Las Vegas,  walking through Ceasars. He went over to a gaming table and sat down.

Funny fact: most of those names mean nothing to me, which shows that "famous" is relative.

Personally, the only people I saw that may be considered "famous" were a Portuguese president (I saw him and his wife on a beach) and a prime minister that went to become the president of the European Commission (shopping).

The other famous person I see everyday on the mirror is myself. Tongue

Edited to add that I don't consider going to an event specifically to see someone as relevant.

I hope you don't mind that I question your topic.

I never understood why some people want to be famous because you lose your freedom when you are famous, and money isn't that important either, as long as you have what you need.

I have also noticed that most famous people have something to prove - maybe they didn't get the attention they needed when they were children?

Anyway, I understand the need to create something yourself, but you can still stay private, and be creative, you just have to choose the right road.

People should of course be famous if that is what they really want to, but I think that world is unhealthy.

So I am advocating for authentic creation without the circus.  Wink2

It's just a question for discussion.

Being famous isn't something special or something to strive for, IMHO.
It's just an interesting thing to talk about.
