US-Iran War Mudpit Thread

It seems someone took me literally, and changed the thread title...

DBCowboy seems to have little understanding of value human life. The very young are often like that, and will follow rules without evaluation of consequence, thinking that they are being 'right'.

Thumbup

I was thinking about this yesterday, after I posted my Mudpit remark.

However, the member in question is apparently old enough to have a child in the armed forces.

Quote:There are several personality disorders where these do not come about and although they gain other more adult attributes, they remain at a juvenile level ethically. We would class these emotionally undeveloped people as having narcissistic, sociopathic and psychopathic disorders.

I find attributing anti-social behaviour to mental instability or some developmental disorder unhelpful. We can, perhaps, lock up the perpetrators following such a diagnosis, but that isn’t always possible. Then what should we do? Console ourselves with the thought that they are sick? Crow over their illness? Call their actions blameless because, after all, they are not well?

Psychology is all very well in its place. It is, in fact, a lifelong interest and (informal) study of mine. But when it comes to cases of this kind I am happy to let psychology go by the board and evaluate people on the basis of what matters, which is whether or not they behave decently towards others and myself. By their moral behaviour, I mean.

Without naming names, there are several members active on this thread who, by this measure, fail catastrophically as human beings. They seem unable to treat others with humanity, let alone respect – apart perhaps, from their own associates, though even with the latter, privilege is limited and conditional. Like members of the Soviet Politburo under Stalin, their relatives and associates* are always on probation, likely to disappear if they fall out favour.

In such cases, I prefer to call a spade a spade. These people are not mentally but morally defective. We can attribute that to whatever effective cause we like – genes, environment, fate, God, the Devil – but the proximate cause is always that they have no sense of others as human and deserving of life and respect.

On Deny Ignorance, most of these moral cripples are right-wingers, but that is only because of the ATS legacy. A historical accident. As my Politburo remark above indicates, leftists are often equally guilty. The problem isn’t one’s political views but the degree of extremism one brings to them – how many people are you willing to make suffer, and how much suffering are you willing to tolerate, in the service of your politics?

Some of the members we exchange more or less uncivil words with on Deny Ignorance are willing to go all the way. The reason they are not mass murderers is simply that they are powerless nobodies.

Yes, and do you know why? Because Trump and his gang are so quids in they can’t do anything else. The war is running them now. They can’t turn round and go home; it will make them the laughing-stock of the world, and there’s nothing they hate more than being made fun of, especially in matters relating to their ‘manliness’.

You are making the same mistake our right-wing friends are making. The idea that Muslims are all suicidal religious fanatics is a Western popular delusion that the leaders of militant Islam have every interest in perpetuating. In fact, the number of suicidal fanatics is vanishingly small, and as far as the leaders are concerned they are mere useful idiots.

Yes, there will probably be a ground invasion now. But you are mistaken if you think the Iranians are going to do Bibi and Don a favour by blowing themselves up. They will fight for every square inch of their country. It is going to be worse than Vietnam, and as far as I see the chances of it ending the same way are much higher than even. No, I don’t care what the betting markets say.

Obama and Bill Clinton had far higher official IQ's. Biden's was unpublished but has been estimated to be about 120, and possibly the lowest of all US Presidents.

I think that Trumb needed to try and appear more adequate than Biden.

It is hard to know Trumb's IQ because it is now known that he cheated and paid for his academic results. He also was never at the top of his class, despite his lies that he was.

And Trumb has teams of people who have had the job of 'scrubbing' anything from his past that he doesn't want known (it probably has been a staple of all Republican Presidents since Nixon's "Gemstone projects". It wouldn't surprise me if the Democratic Party did the same thing).

His former college professor, William T. Kelley described Trumb as the "dumbest goddam student I ever had". Another of his teachers said that Trumb was always unprepared, and his classmates that remember him, said he was always skipping classes.

Trumb's vocabulary is also that of an 8 year old.

You've heard of legacy, right? Our Oligarch is mostly one of inherited status.

Trump getting into Penn is like when the horse face rushes to be a Kappa and gets in because her mom was a horse face Kappa bitch too.

Trump projects what end of the Dunning-Kruger Effect he is on when he calls 5 people low IQ in 7 different posts in 4 days. Any annoying repetition of dumb burns said continuously without objective self-realization is all you need to tell..
Don and Pete, good day to you. Totally brilliant you're doing a great job for civilisation. Keep pounding them. There is no other way. They talk about peace discussions this and that, forget it, you're getting the gist of how to deal with these types. Use what is available to you. Those weapons need to be used. This lot, at some point down the line, will come back and get you, your friends and people. Why not remove that threat?

Just a reminder....................... Most countries in the ME have been brought on side or set back to the Iraqi standard. Please, don't forget to finish off the issues in Yemen. That region is a threat. You have the power. Just do what needs to be done.

Apparently diplomacy is for losers, and every problem is a nail if you've got enough missiles.  Lol

Just keep in mind history's graveyard is full of people like "Don and Pete" who thought overwhelming force would permanently solve problems.
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."
I have yet to see anyone properly articulate what the objective is for this military operation.
I have heard many reasons ranging from helping the people of Iran to stopping them from dropping a nuke on the US or a neighbor and our ally to just simply assassinating the entire leadership and family.
And when this specific objective is obfuscated obviously the people will ask more questions than normal. But god forbid you do so due to fear of being called any number of mean nasty things.
So now we have a situation that by all appearances we are just supposed to accept what the government tells us. The same government that uses AI generated images regularly and lies repeatedly about the most mundane things.
Asking questions is what we are meant to do and what is expected of us by our ancestors. To question me or anyone else asking question is suspect at best.

Indeed.

The Strait was open before this ill thought out War began and no amount of bombing seems to be able to open it.

Now, the Houthis are threatening to close more shipping routes.

Question any of this and some posters will scream at you for supposedly being an America hating leftist or whatever, whilst contributing nothing to any discussion other than the usual insults.

Sad.

But DI is better than that, thankfully.

Dr. Zinner didn't say anything about Biden because Narcissistic Personality Disorder is his area of medical expertise and Biden clearly does not display that particular characteristic.

And I can't find any quotes that claim Biden was the "sharpest guy in the room".  I can find several quotes from people who worked with him to the effect that he was "intensely probing and detail-oriented and focused", and as being "as sharp as ever".

"As sharp as ever", not "the sharpest guy in the room".

On the other hand, Trump is on the record as having said, "I am the smartest guy you're ever gonna meet," and told others that it would be impossible for him to hire someone smarter because "there's nobody smarter than me."
