Trump says he bombed Iran
(03-12-2026, 10:23 AM)CriticalStinker Wrote: It’s effectively closed. 6 ships have been hit, and a vast majority aren’t moving through.

Of course, our government isn’t being honest about that. Trump said the strait opening is going well after three tankers were hit. He also said naval ships would escort them through, which hasn’t happened yet. The secretary of energy tweeted the other day before market close that one of our naval ships escorted one through and deleted the post minutes later. It was enough to dramatically move the market. They later blamed that on a staffer.

None of this should come as a surprise either, back in the summer we said we obliterated the whole nuclear program along with fissile material. I remember being called a panican then for questioning if it was over or just the beginning. That was in this very thread, pages 60-100 I believe.

Yet here we are.

General rule of thumb is politicians lie or embellish more than they tell the truth. We’ve already declared victory, yet the situation is more tense for the global community than it was just a few weeks ago.

I agree, but i'm also onboard for it. As long as it remains an air, sea, space war and we are not full boots on the ground close quarter combatants. I would rather burn a billion dollars a shot than a ground war.
“The American press is a shame and a reproach to a civilized people. When a man is too lazy to work and too cowardly to steal, he becomes an editor and manufactures public opinion.”

California homeowner here,

FBI is warning that Iran might be planning to retaliate against the US by attacking California via drones.

(OR, it could be a "false flag" operation by the Current administration to retaliate against California's high-profile, anti-Trump governor,  and muster more anti-Iran support from the rest of the nation)

My question is; If my home is damaged or destroyed by an "Iranian drone", will my homeowners insurance cover the repairs?

Since the President has said this is NOT a "war"  (just an "excursion", unless you're Iran, in which case it is a "war"...), and Congress has yet to declare a war with Iran, the "Acts of War" exclusion in some insurance policies should not apply, right?

Inquiring minds...

I would just temper your expectations on what can be achieved from the air.

Regime change is almost certainly not happening. In fact, I think between the shock and awe style of bombing, and going after their leader may have even unified enough of the people to make the regime stronger than before the bombing. People can hate their government while still coming together against an external threat.

Theyll likely maintain some missile capacity, both in launch and production. It’s a country bigger than Afghanistan with mostly mountains and more population.

At best we can give them the black eye of a lifetime from the sky and then leave.

The question is what happens to the strait. We were unable to put down the Houthis and take control of the mouth of the Red Sea. So people should be prepared for a long energy crisis if Iran holds to their convictions.

Used to be that 'acts of war' were not covered.
But this isn't a declared war on our side.
So who knows ...

Hated with a passion where I hail from.

Same with the majority of the North of England.

How is Trump a typical American?

Nothing typical about the fella.

Born with a silver spoon where the sun doesn't shine.

And extended privilege and power because of his family.

Is it typical for people to get $1 million loans from their father?

He's ""one of them.""

And if God exists, St. Peter's is going to be wanting a word or two at those pearly gates, methinks.

He knows perfectly well his name's not down and he's not getting in, fella has even called it on his own.

Maggie is a legend Andy. Sure she did it a little ruthlessly, but most of the heavy industry was Commie infested Unionised and subsidised by the tax payers. Those steel plants just could not compete with foreigners. Look in a perfect world I'd have backed thise plants but the fact is they were infested with Commies. I love Trump because he is bringing the manufacturing back to the States but those industries can compete these days wit AI and the robots. 1970's Britain was nailed with Commies constantly going on strike in addition to churning out sub standard products like the Ambassadour, Allegro, Princess, Morris Marina, BL Ital. They were just off the mark and state subsidies couldn't go on it was breaking our nation. The Unions needed crushing they were too powerful. Maggie sorted the nation out. 1980 we were in a terrible state yet by 1990 everything was on the up. I lived through it Andy. The world was a better place for having Maggie in it. The northern communities yes I feel them totally and can understand the feeling for Maggie, yet if the industries suddenly terminate and verything falls apart in the locality, then the only way is to move on. Northerners need to do what the ancestry did and migrate. All those shipyard workers in Glasgow etc came from Ireland originally, or the hilly bits of the Highlands, they moved for economic opportunities in the Clyde, unfortunately the time had come by 1980 to move on again, to where the opportunities lay, be it the new world, or the more economically active areas of he British isles. It may sound harsh but that's the way the world works.

On the Trump being the typical American example, I was referring to him being half a Kraut and half a Brit. Those two ethnicities are what made America the country it is today (obviously with the blacks efforts too, Italians and Cathoics Irish a little less and later comers too) the German and Brits settled the americas. Trump is that example of what the country became.
