Trump is in talks with Russia to end the war
(03-03-2025, 06:21 AM)Oldcarpy2 Wrote: Nobody is talking about boots on the ground to win the war.

Only after a peace deal.

- You have to have boots on the ground from outside Ukraine in order to win the war.

- There is no reason for Russia to make a peace deal ... they, unfortunately, are winning.

- And, if the war was to end, the boots on the ground from UK/Europe would be armed and combat ready .. and they'd be there forever.  Just like the DMZ in Korea.

This is for Europe/UK to deal with.
It's their backyard.
They can pay for it.
We've already paid 100 billion by some estimates, and gotten nothing for it but a stalemate and a financial black hole.
Europe/UK can put the armed troops there, call them 'peace keepers' and pretend that they aren't really 'boots on the ground'.  Not us.  It's THEIR backyard.  Not ours.

And while all this planning is going on .... no one can be trusted.   Not Putin.  Not Zelenskyy.  Not Trump or the American congress/senate.  Not Canadian/UK/Europe leadership.  Not Russias buddies like N. Korea or Iran or China.

The interviewer can't find a native for Starmer's boots on the ground

The UK has an Army with a total manning of around 100k (according to Grok). That includes reserves and admin

don’t know how many are actual fighting troops.

again the minerals rights deal was just a vehicle for peace talks no more no less it's just approximately 350 billion and will cost some billions to extract in Ukraine

Makes perfect sense in a capitalistic world to buy it cheaper from Russia and have it for its end uses quicker.

Trump saved America billions and we have access to rare earth minerals much quicker when life gives you lemons make lemonade and go on

The more one thinks about it, it's easy to see where the Left and Zelenskyy realized if they sign a deal with Trump he gets the credit, and might as well jettison him and try it without him firat

I am not sure how you can say Trump saved American billions without any independant auditing authority/oversight, but what does that matter any way, huh?

Trump just gave Musk a couple billion dollar contract.

Trump wants to remove government spending accounting from the GDP; easier to hide money that way, huh?

Trump shitcoin scheme back on with Sachs, using taxpayer money.

But I digress.

Putin is in this war for more than just territory, his ideology harkens back to the good ole days when Russia was the Soviet Union and he wants that to become a reality again.

Putin needs not only his ideologies to be fulfilled, but he needs people because his country's population continues to decline and that spells economic problems in the near future. That's why he abducted an estimated 20,000 Ukrainian children from the occupied territories at the start of the war.

Putin's actions, to me, show where his desperations lie; needing NK soliders on the front lines, betraying his Z-patriots/military/veterans/people by cozying up with the enemy (the U.S.) - desperation.

That was a bit of my own hyperbolic turning lemons into lemonade but it makes sense regardless the US is no longer interested in the minerals right deal with Ukraine. Rumors are Zelensky was told to pitch a fit by previous administrations allies. Ironic how Susan Rice popped in the news

If the mineral rights deal were more than a vehicle for peace talks one would assume if it were really advantageous it will still happen, Zelensky is begging for the US to sign, and it's not likely to happen.

Works better if you include links not to mention quite a bit off topic but when I get a chance I'll look them up. MUSK is crucial to numerous space related contracts. If Harris was Presdident he would still be receiving contracts or we could twiddle our thumbs and wait for NASA to be ready for so many launches. Just the reality of the situation

after your digression it all seems to hyperbolic fearmongering speculation at best without solid evidence that Ukraine is in any better shape themselves.

The abduction of children is horrific but it's always been Russia's MO historically lets hope it can be resolved in a peace deal, I have seen Russian responses that they take children when they they are to close to the battlefield, which sounds like a manufactured excuse but it has some logic.

Ive been watching this map since day one every 2-3 days and unless Ukraine can be more offensive and get bluer on the map it's a lost cause Russia is solidifying its defenses, which means it will take more than a few hand grenade drome attacks to dislodge them. They have brilliantly and bravely fought to a stalemate with a top 5 world power, but without real NATO troops and other capabilities, they have little chance of moving the front lines back into Russia.

Right now we have Ukraine drone defenses and 2 French Mirage jets patrolling the Black Sea, they will need a much more vigorous offensive to dislodge Russia.

They have no military plan or timeline to do so, only an insatiable need for more weapons, ammunition, shells, missiles, and cash.

Hell, the North Vietnamese had settled into planned guerilla warfare tactics by year 3 and it was already obvious the US would play hell trying to dislodge them. Ukraine is years away from being able to remove Russia from the Ukrainian sliver of land, the blowup at the Oval Office didn't help. We can pretend Zelenskky was justified if one wants to, but it likely emboldens Russia to dig in wait, while Ukraine whithers away.

Whatever damage the Russians are receiving it's still not enough to change the tide or even strengthen Ukraine's position for negotiations. That will take attacks on a well-entrenched Russian army.

Zelensky might have blown any chance for a ceasefire and peace talks when even a week's pause would have likely been more beneficial to Ukraine than Russia

Let's see what the EU and other countries will be spending Putin's $200 Billion frozen assets on before we jump to conclusions.

As for not providing sources, pot calling kettle black, hmm? I mean really, it's not like this is any form of a true debate.

Edit to add:

Well it appears Trump has made a deal with TSMC CEO (Taiwan semiconductor chip maker) so of course he does not need any lithium now - he never did - it was all a lie.

Piss off China much?

Supposedly all told they are worth 300-350 billion but it will cost loads, to build the infrastructure to mine them years 8-10.

This was just a vehicle for the US to recoup some of the money being spent. Without that, it's up to the EU to make the deal with limited involvement from Trump. More than likely he will hand it off to Rubio if the US is involved at all. Trumps has other business to attend too.

Pretty sure using frozen Russian assets to finance going forward isn't going entice the Russians to talk anyway

Did you hear that Zelensky already peddled this 'minerals deal' like a shabby itinerant salesmen to the UK weeks before asking Trump?
It's almost like these minerals don't really exist in any proper usable fashion and he is all out of leverage to keep his gravy train going, while inconsiderately having his citizens slaughtered in his refusal for peace.
And if they do exist, how can you trust someone who peddles the same wares in the same fashion to two different groups in the same month-period?

Switch the name Zelenskyy for Putin then it also rings true.

Major difference being that Putin doesn't need any support militarily that I can see, for the continued existence of Russia.
Ukraine on the other hand is nothing without major outside support, and really is not acting like it wants peace.

Well, it's obvious you are following some agenda/narrative, so good luck with that.

If you mean by following an agenda that I have some personal plan that I am unfolding, then that is a negative, lol.
