I finally saw a James Bond movie

Well .. one that doesn't hit women, bed them ten minutes later, then bed a co-worker 10 minutes after that and leave her as well, then find the dead body of the one he hit a little while later and not give a hoot.   Kinda trashy hero.

Perhaps the new Bond film?  He  respects women, declines their sexual advances and refuses to commit violent acts against super villains bent on World domination and instead tries to engage them in a reasoned debate to try to change their minds

Since you started on Eastwood, Dirty Harry is still awesome.
His scene initially being against female cops still works today, cuz it's based on logic.  And then she redeems herself in the end . well , spoiler she dies.
But she held her own was the point.

And the film that should have been a Dirty Harry film but was not - The Gauntlet.

A more wholesome hero would be Indiana Jones.  I can't think of much else in the way of film franchises.

TMWTGG is my favorite film of the franchise, but it wasn't very popular when it came out, and many Bond fans still don't much care for the movie. I'd never suggest that as a starting point though. Try Brosnan or Craig for a touch of the modern. Dalton did a hell of a job too.
