Movie Recommendations
#1
I'm looking for some movie recommendations. I pretty much have seen everything, that is watchable that is. So the films are probably going to have to be relatively unknown.

Here are a few to check out for you.

Good Time (2017)

Dog Eat Dog (2016)

Big Gold Brick (2022)

Gold (2022) Efron

Moonlighting (1982)

Just a few off the top of my head, I will probably be listing more as they come to me. There are hundreds of little known or talked about gems out there. Just looking for some good entertainment. I just don't have the time or patience to watch Television series anymore.
Thanks

I like to make pretentious movie recommendations. Like one of those snob employees that used to exist when video stores used to exist.

So favorite movies, or favorite movies people may have missed?  Favorite movies are many, but they are mainstream and largely already seen, like Eternal Sunshine.  So her are ones that more people missed.

Lost Highway/Mulholland Drive/Blue Velvet - Any of them, all have a critic score around 70%. Just like David Lynch. RIP.

Serenity - The movie wrap-up to Firefly.  I truly believe someone at Fox had it out for The Browncoats. They obliterated it's run. Ran 6 of 13 episodes out of order and never gave it a chance. They wouldn't have done that to Angel. But Angel had the following.  Spike and Drusilla would have been a better spin-off... Angel? Meh.

Where The Buffalo Roam - The first Hunter Thompson movie. Bill Murray does better than Depp too.

12 Monkeys - Terry Gilliam, who did Fear and Loathing, has amazing cinematography. He is so artistic with his shots, and underrated for weirdness.

Go! - Doug Limen. The right movie for the right time in my life.  Same age as the main character doing nearly identical stupid shit.

Party Monster - Adaptation of book Disco Bloodbath by James St. James. It's about drug addicted proto-non-binary 80s NYC club kids

You might try ''The World's Fastest Indian''

Stars Anthony Hopkins as an ageing motorcycle mechanic and rider from New Zealand. He restores a old 1920 Indian, soups it up and cobbles together enough money to get him, and it, to the USA where he takes it to the Bonnefield Salt Flats in 1967 to race it.

When he gets there, everyone laughs at him because he is riding a 47 year old motorcycle and he himself is already 68 years old. They laugh until he sets the land speed record.

The movie came out in 2006 and is heart warming, funny, thoughtful and inspiring. And TRUE.

Good films
Bad Day at Black Rock (1955)
My Dinner With Andre (1981)
The Fountain (2006)

This one has Sean Connery
The Man Who Would Be King (1975)

Sadder-in-retrospect Robin Williams double feature
The Fisher King (1991)
What Dreams May Come (1998)

Some good flicks seen most of them though. Bad Day at Black Rock (classic) The man who would be king was very underrated. Seen both the Williams fims. Fisher King another classic. I have heard good things about Dinner with Andre, never heard of the Fountain, Ill have to check it out.

He plays an Elvis type singer billed into a ''Nazi Germany'' type country as a good will ambassador. Lots of visual gimmicks and one liners, much like the ''Airplane'' series.
For all my love of comedy, this one still ranks up in my top five, well, at least my top ten.

Oh, here's another on of my favorites. ''The Last Seduction'' staring Linda Fiorentino, Bill Pullman and Peter Berg, from 1994.

Pullman is a doctor who sells medicinal cocaine to some drug dealers, Fioentino is his wife. He hits her so she takes the drug cash and makes it on the lamb hiding out in a small town where she takes Berg as a partner in crime.

Fiorentino here is the consummate and  total con, she plays everyone against each other and sets up a grand scheme. There is not an ounce of compassion in her though she pretends it oh so well. Twists and turns, a great con artist movie.

From what I remember good pick.

I am pretty tough on Recs cause I have just seen so many films. I kind of got out of watching alot of films the last 15 years or so. So probably that would be your best shot at stumping me, with a Hidden, forgotten or relatively unknown gem.

Recommendations of the Day

Mississippi Grind (2015)
Blue Ruin (2013)
