I mean, it seems like an obvious solution.
But the fact is, there are so many wet, nasty, slimy, places and pipes, down below the decks of a ship.
That even cats won't venture...
Maybe, but they must be venturing up if they are infecting passengers.

Yeah, that's where the people and their food sources are...
Crazy to think about, really, what lies beneath.
I suppose land and sewers are not that much different.

My cat, Carl, is a keen ratter and mouser. Sadly, he brings them in live to play with and they invariably run behind the fridge or under sofas.....

Not necessarily, it could have been urine or feces-soaked or tainted food that was given to the passengers or the crew didn't wash their hands after handling the food packaging or the food. It really makes one cringe.

Yeah, we had a few like that over the years.
Our old tabby named Timmy used to bring us presents like that all the time.
Pigeons also, which were a particular favorite...

Since installing a catio on the side of our house the cats bring in and tear apart many insects, there are insect legs everywhere, and also bring in the smaller critters, alive, as gifts. Birds are safe because the catio is covered in chicken wire.

Ask any fisherman (Carpy) and they will tell you to never leave your beer cans or similar beverages lying around.
Latest report that others have fallen sick and it is suspected that it has transferred human to human, although rare, it can happen.
Not good news for the cruise line! Especially given what Quint said about customer service etc on P1.
They are going to get some serious insurance claims against them.

Nightmare scenario.
Locked in a tin can with the infected.
I imagine insurance claims will indeed be incoming.

They are currently docked and hopefully the authorities there can handle this quickly and safely.
"The MV Hondius, a Dutch-flagged cruise ship operated by Oceanwide Expeditions, is currently docked off the port of Praia in Cape Verde after being refused permission to disembark due to a suspected hantavirus outbreak. The vessel, which left Argentina in late April, is holding approximately 147 to 150 people (passengers and crew) in isolation while health authorities investigate." (LLM)
