Trump says he bombed Iran

But the absence of glowing debris doesn’t mean diminished nuclear risk.

Tensions involving Iran, North Korea, Russia, and China, are still on the boil.

Nuclear posturing and weapons development quietly continue.

And just because no bomb has dropped lately doesn’t mean deterrence is permanent.

They manage the risk, but it's not eliminated, while they still have are appoximatly 12,000 odd warheads in existance.

History reminds us that crises can escalate unexpectedly.

The fact is that the potential for nuclear use, accidental or intentional, remains high.

History reminds me that the world has used atomic/nuclear bombs twice during war/military conflict on an actual combatant and never again.

85 years...

We had nuclear attack drills in my elementary school.

We had military speakers in high school insist America was likely in our last 1000 days before nuclear war circa 1979.

6 years ago we would have been screwed if they released some bug with a higher sustained deathrate than 2% even then it's the largest worldwide calamity since WWII

Completely obliterated, according to Trump.

Not so much, according to the satellite imagery.

And conflicting reports from their own intelligence agency.

Again, he wishes to talk things into reality.

And that's just not how things work, hence the footwork and tantrums.

Same to similar crap this side of the pond and also "threads" LoL

We would all be fine as long as we climbed under the school desk or pulled a blanket over our heads.

The 80s were such fun.

Again, though, nuclear war is a possibility in this insane world in which we live.

It's still a M.A.D world, and that's not likely to change anytime soon.

I'm just sick and tired of all this.  Lived and served during the Cold War, Gulf War V1.0 and 2.0

If they gonna nuke us, then they will all die.

Forever.

No Iran.

Just glass.

So bring it, fuckers.

yes and interesting how controversy about whether trump's attack was effective

obscures discussion of whether trump's bombing was in violation of international law

obscures discussion of whether the united states should join israel in attacking iran

obscures discussion of whether netanyahu is lying about iran's nuclear program

obscures discussion of israel's bombing of lebanon

obscures discussion of the ongoing starvation in gaza

etc etc etc...

oh hey are we going to circle back to ukraine again next? Lol

Perhaps, it just feels like even if we had a nuclear exchange, there would still be a political mechanism for the nuclear powers to turn it off.

There is no turning off a new hyper strain of some super flu released from putrid pangolin potstickers in Peking...

In case anybody is up for some 1980s nightmares.

When "Threads" was aired 1984(i was 9) it gave us all the shivers.

It’s a sobering thought.

And not with a bang, but with a whimper.
