Arguable its a very impressive piece of work from a military perspective...

But i don't quite think the operation had the desired effect they thought it would.

A precise operation.  Like killing Bin Laden with airstrikes instead, but I dont think they planned BEYOND that point.  Or expected something different to happen, or carelessly overlooked the possibility Iran closes the strait, or decided no plan is the best plan of all.

Trump really prefers an in flux field of play where he just has to react to things, and that's why this is annoying..

They know we dont want a ground war. 
They know all they have to do is drag this out for as long as possible and try to push it there. Because they know they're gonna lose anyway. 

And the most surprising thing is Trump's willingness to look totally incompetent (globally), rather than escalate to the ground war The Gulf States are pushing hard for.. 

So, for Trump, I'd imagine it's like an internal battle between:

Looking incompetent and ineffectual  *or* face being wrong about needing a ground offensive and way more time to secure strait control.

He's still trying to do it all in the least risky way, but that also happens to be one THAT WILL TAKE FOR GODDAMN EVER.

Especially in "campaign promise passive mode" like this, because it waits for them to be worn down and blink first. This is the same country that funded the militant electorate of Gaza, and they couldnt be broken by blockades and aid leveraging. Our Stubbornness doesn't give Iranian stubborness enough credit. 

And with Trump/Hegseth playing it safe as possible comes everyone's opportunity to make fun of their plans at length.

Well if you study the statements and what actual video is available you will notice an attempt to craft that narrative around the verifiable videos. The original statement was always two ships went in to help two ships get out. The narrative claims four ships were engaged, so thanks to that consistency IRGC confirms that the involvement of four ships is accurate.

Again, why would they not reveal these engagements? Because its not going down the way they claim. Psychological warfare is designed to attack the morale of not just field troops but the civilian supporting population. Troops know better, civilians often do not, and let their emotions get the better of them. Or in other words, allow the propaganda to have its desired effect.

An Iranian energy official just conceded something in a surprise admission that the US naval blockade has begun to bite the Islamic Republic's oil industry. According to new reporting in the NY Times:

The blockade has halted Iran’s oil exports, choking off crucial revenues, and the country risks running out of places to store its oil. It is also affecting the import of other goods, forcing Iran to seek alternative routes through neighboring countries and its smaller ports on the Caspian Sea. And the economic pain inside Iran, already dire before the war, is becoming much worse.
“The sea blockade is a much more serious threat than even war, and the current stalemate must be broken because the export of our oil and energy and the fate of our refineries is now at risk,” said Hamid Hosseini, an expert on Iran’s oil sector who serves on the energy committee of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, in an interview from Tehran.

Egypt has deployed fighter jets to the UAE, exactly when they were deployed I don't know. I don't keep up, for all I know they are normally based there.

Egypt has deployed fighter jets in the United Arab Emirate in what appears to be an effort to help guard the Gulf nation which was repeatedly attacked by Iran since the start of the American-Israeli war on the Islamic Republic more than a month ago.
The deployment was revealed during a visit by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the UAE on May 7, where he met with President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other senior Emirate officials.
 
The two leaders also visited the Egyptian fighter jet detachment stationed in the UAE to “review its readiness and ongoing efforts to strengthen operational capabilities and preparedness for various challenges,” the news agency said, revealing the deployment for the first time.
Photos shared by WAM showed French-made Dassault Rafale fighter jets from the Egyptian Air Force, as well as at least 13 fully-equipped Egyptian pilots meeting with El-Sisi and Mohamed bin Zayed at an undisclosed air base — very possibly Al Dhafra Air Base near the capital, Abu Dhabi.

It is unclear when exactly the Egyptian fighter jets were deployed in the UAE, but El-Sisi’s surprise visit came just a few days after Iran renewed attacks on the country in response to an attempt by the United States to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by force. President Donald Trump has since paused the operation, citing progress in talks with the Islamic Republic.

For whatever reason though, no mention on Mehr or PressTV . Likely reported by  a nearby stringer for the FARS and the regime is trying to figure out how to frame the narrative.
