Summary is Russia is making gains and Ukraine is making less gains.  Reports from both sides show that Ukraine is slowly losing at this point.

Yeah, that's the first thought that crossed my mind, too. If so, it's such an amateurish attempt. There's no reason for Putin to be there, especially so early in the talks. I haven't seen where the front lines are. I'll take a temporary ceasefire, but yes, if he gets no financing, it's inevitable. 

The 7 times larger Russia wore them down just as most thought would happen.

Russia has the initiative and is pushing the frontlines on all sides and they want to pause that while rearming Ukraine and not lifting sanctions...why would Russia take this seriously?

Yeah, thats not gonna happen, I mean I know you ask for the moon and the stars when negotiating. But damn this is why Putin wont attend talks neither side wants peace, and there's no impetus for the compromises needed

Thanks for the map and the link... Just trying to plug in a 15km buffer zone on the zoomed-in map. I don't see Russia backing off the towns and infrastructure they have captured so far for a buffer. Like the nuclear power plant and Bakmhut, they may agree in less vital areas.

Thats new to me. 
The whole thing was to try to avoid other troops on the ground. 
But I mean we know the EU guys love them some interventions. 
I am still surprised Kosovo is a country.
