"The IEEPA tariff collection halt coincides with Trump's imposition of a new, 15% global tariff under a different legal authority to replace the ones struck down by the Supreme Court on Friday."

Trade deficit went up in 2025, USD went down, manufacturing jobs went down.

How are they going to work if they haven't, and now everyone knows they were and are unconstitutional? What company would want to spend billions to come back and build to avoid tariffs that are going to be gone soon?

Oh, Trump now has the most federal debt of any president too. So how is anything working?

Did Trump destroy the economy like you guys said a year ago? And agreed he shouldve imposed them through congress too.

And which president of the last 4 or so didnt have the most debt at that point?

the rapid shift from the invalidated tariffs to new, modified ones is creating significant uncertainty for supply chains, with businesses struggling to adapt to the changing landscape

We'll see how this works out

If your argument is Trump didn’t absolutely destroy the economy, I guess I have to give that to you.

But they’re also question was what metrics showed that tariffs are improving it. You might be able to cherry pick an isolated one, but the broader market has slowed.

Now out of pride he wants to use different legal framework. So everyone has to do the song and dance of learning how to navigate the changes, require large projects, all because one person is mad about the constitution.

No one even said he couldn’t do any tariffs. They just have to be targeted and thoughtful. We don’t make every resource on earth, so some inputs for production have to be imported. People in those situations are punished with no alternative. Some people have to requote projects that are millions of dollars, and have already been bid on (cough). That requires getting updated pricing from every vendor and subcontractor. All because of one man’s pride.

This would be different if we were getting massive benefits. But I can’t see anyone make the case that we are even benefiting at all.

So my guess is prolonged back and forth of legal battles.

After the dust settles, we’re looking at increased debt, decreased leverage and a possibility for tariff refunds. Howard Lutnick’s sons at Cantor Fitzgerald coincidentally and by pure luck I’m sure created a contract to buy the rights for tariff refunds from companies for Pennie’s on the dollar.

Its all a mess, and a very preventable one.

The responsible thing to do would be accept accountability, and take this to Congress to be codified, which should have been done from the beginning. Instead I think it will be a circus where companies constantly have to figure out how to navigate this while flooding man hours into keeping up and requoting big projects (I say this from personal experience).

As with everything else this administration does... it will be a complete and utter implosion. This is what happens when you rule by executive order..  I am not even necessarily against the tariffs 100%... Trump just bull rushes through everything because he puts himself on these unnecessary time limitations because of his case of verbal diarahea.

No. Trump is going around them. The tariffs have already brought in hundreds of billions of dollars. Factories are being built people are being hired. Trump has saved the country.  Wow

Where do you think those hundreds of billions came from?  Clue - US importers.

Please tell me that you don't think they were paid by foreign Countries?

Just like you're and other countries tariffs on America. And the business will be coming back to America. Not rocket science.

So he’s going to continue to disregard the constitution. Neat.

He can still issue tariffs, they just have to be targeted and justified. There was a lot of dishonesty behind the “reciprocal” tariffs. Many of those nations didn’t have tariffs on US goods. Some were slapped with them because they had VAT (sales tax) or didn’t allow US goods like meat or agriculture goods because it doesn’t meet their standards. Some countries don’t allow hormones, antibiotics, and GMO in food.

Also, the problem with not targeting tariffs can have adverse effects. We’ve seen this with isolationism before. China is getting more deals and more exports than ever before. Their exports went up last year. So it’s hyperbolic to just say the Supreme Court is pro China because they interpreted and enforced the constitution.

MAGA is trying to act like a law that doesn’t even say tariffs, and directly says the context of it is emergency use somehow supersedes the constitution… the absolute supreme law of the land.

Make that make sense.
