Trump 'authorizing Full Force, if necessary' as military deploys to another US city.President Donald Trump announced Saturday that he would be directing Department of Defense Secretary Pete Hegeseth to “provide all necessary troops” to protect “war-ravaged Portland,” Oregon, and in an effort to protect Immigration Customs and Enforcement facilities in the city.
 “At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security [Secretary] Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social Saturday. “I am also authorizing Full Force, if necessary. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Trump’s announcement comes shortly after Portland city officials threatened to evict ICE from its facility over alleged permit violations.
 On Friday, Portland city officials held an emergency press conference after observing “a sudden influx of federal agents” in the city.
“We did not ask for them to come,” said Portland Mayor Keith Wilson during the press conference, according to a report from KOIN, a CBS affiliated station.
“If the federal government isn’t here to lend us a hand, take a hike…it’s just a big show. The president has sent agents here to create chaos and riots in Portland. [Trump] wants to induce a violent exchange. Let’s not grant him that wish…Say no to an authoritarian president.”

Is this another attempt at eroding civil liberties and a step closer to an authoritarian regime, or a needed helping hand for ICE?   

The Portland City Mayor hasn't asked for this assistance, so is this uncalled for federal interference within a democratically governed city, and Trumps attempts at taking a more aggressive stance at controlling Democrat run cities?  
What ever you political leaning, shouldn't the President respect the voted for leaders of a city or state?

Seems pretty obvious to me that Trump is trying to provoke race riots similar to what happened in the summer of 2020 so that he has an excuse to declare insurrection, martial law, etc.

If they are not being attacked, then the extra troops are a political move.
I haven't seen anything specific as to 'extra problems' in Portland.
It's a stink'n mess there ... but as for attacks against ICE/Facilities ... dunno.
The official gov't site that talks about such attacks has Portland down ...
But it doesn't look like a massive thing that would need extra troops
and it was a few months ago t hat the incidents happened.

The situation does have a slight ominous feeling to it, and seems to come straight from the pages of a how to guide for Dictators. Attempt to control the media and the education system, outlaw and arrest any political opposition, try to control the voting, and finally form 'happy re-education' camps for the supposed enemy.

Yep.  Unless those elected officials are so partisan that they refuse to acknowledge a problem that needs federal intervention.   However, a quick look at what's going on in Portland says that's not the case here.   I find it odd that he's going into Portland.  I thought Memphis was the next up on the list and that the feds had been invited there ....

True.  If there is no big problem needing troops, but troops get sent, it could easily trigger those already on edge.

I'm still finding this odd.
Came out of nowhere.
Portland is a sucky city now.
Totally ruined.
But not in melt down needing troops (that I know of).
And even the official DHS site doesn't have it that way.
WEIRDNESS.  
But hey .. we should all be used to weirdness by now.
Democrat or republican .. weirdness in the White House rules the day.
