If your argument is Trump didn’t absolutely destroy the economy, I guess I have to give that to you.
But they’re also question was what metrics showed that tariffs are improving it. You might be able to cherry pick an isolated one, but the broader market has slowed.
Now out of pride he wants to use different legal framework. So everyone has to do the song and dance of learning how to navigate the changes, require large projects, all because one person is mad about the constitution.
No one even said he couldn’t do any tariffs. They just have to be targeted and thoughtful. We don’t make every resource on earth, so some inputs for production have to be imported. People in those situations are punished with no alternative. Some people have to requote projects that are millions of dollars, and have already been bid on (cough). That requires getting updated pricing from every vendor and subcontractor. All because of one man’s pride.
This would be different if we were getting massive benefits. But I can’t see anyone make the case that we are even benefiting at all.
