It is reported in Wikipedia that this perp was a member of 'Wide Awakes'.
-------
"Family members were interviewed by investigators and Secret Service agents said that Allen "made radical statements and that he constantly referenced a plan to do 'something' to fix the issues with today's world", that he was part of a Connecticut-based group called "
The Wide Awakes" based in
Hartford, attended
No Kings protests in
California, and would regularly go to a shooting range to train with firearms.[sup]

[55][/sup] Allen's sister told Secret Service agents and the
Montgomery County Police Department that Allen had purchased two handguns and a shotgun, which he stored at their parents' home without their knowledge." (Wikipedia)

"Mission statement
Typical Wide Awakes chapters also adopted an unofficial mission statement. The following example comes from the
Chicago chapter:[sup]
[11][/sup]
- To act as a political police.
- To do escort duty to all prominent Republican speakers who visit our place to address our citizens.
- To attend all public meetings in a body and see that order is kept and that the speaker and meeting is not disturbed.
- To attend the polls and see that justice is done to every legal voter.
- To conduct themselves in such a manner as to induce all Republicans to join them.
- To be a body joined together in large numbers to work for the good of the Republican Ticket." (Wikipedia)

Wide Awake is a part of the Sunrise Movement Group - a progressive political group, but I'm not sure whether the perp stands for what these groups stand for, as his specific words were more so towards removing a pedophile and rapist from leading his country in addition to quoting Christian scripture. So, perhaps the perp was just a very troubled and confused person.

"In recent years, the organization has expanded its mission to include
fighting authoritarianism under the Trump administration. While it has received recognition for its climate advocacy, it has also faced
controversies, including accusations of
antisemitism by its D.C. chapter and criticism regarding its effectiveness in shaping subsequent climate legislation after 2020."
