Culture movie is in the works. I'm cautiously optimistic. https://bleedingcool.com/tv/consider-phl...velopment/

Covenant books would be a good adaptation, but the rapey bits would be problematic. https://core.ac.uk/download/pdf/227282337.pdf

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.  Seems I heard someone is making a movie about it but not sure.  It’s a scifi, end of the world book.  We listened to it on audio.

Lucifer's Hammer- Niven & Pournelle

Lucifer's Hammer NSS Review

The writer's agent had asked for a book about an alien invasion so they wrote one where the aliens used asteroids as weapons. After reading the draft the editor said to drop the aliens and make it a disaster book. Lucifer's Hammer was the result and, while definitely dated, would make a fantastic movie or limited series if updated for the times ala Earth Abides.

The Passage trilogy by Justin Cronin.

Ridley Scott bought the rights to it when it was still in manuscript form.  However it was turned over to Fox who completely ruined it when they made it into a mini series.  I'd love to see it done right on the big screen.

I second the motion on a Drizzt film.

Does anyone think The Children of Hurin by JRR Tolkien would ever be made into a film?

I have several; Rendezvous with Rama, Hyperion, and several of the old Indiana Jones books where everything is tied back to Merlin as the main antagonist. Also, I really want to see the full Prometheus movie, with all the cuts because nothing makes sense in its current version. Its only after reading the first scripts that you realize the Engineer attacks us because we killed Jesus.

Oh man, I forgot about that masterpiece. That book actually had me start putting some bug out stuff together just in case.

A couple more interesting ones could be Fevre Dream by George RR Martin and The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova.  Two more vampire based novels...

Revelation Space Series -Alastair Reynolds

I think a series of movies from this universe could rival the Star Wars movies.

Shibumi and The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant are a good shout.

Where to start, given the advancements in special effects and CGI etc almost anything could be possible.

The Saga of The Exiles - Julian May.
The Way Series - Greg Bear.

I've just got round to watching all three series of The Wheel of Time.
I enjoyed reading the books but they could be a bit laborious and slow paced due to the number of sub-ploys etc.
But I have to say I really enjoyed the TV adaptation and am really disappointed it hasn't been renewed.

If they can get that series to work then I suspect with the correct people involved they can get more or less any book/series to work.
I believe in this and its been tested by research, he who fucks nuns will later join the church.

Grunts! By Mary Gentle

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grunts!

"The story follows a group of orcs who always find themselves on the front lines of battle against the carefully prepared and always triumphant forces of good. The orcs decided to organize themselves and fight back. As a satire of high fantasy the novel mocks most of the conventions of the genre from using traditional villainous races, orcs, as the protagonists, to having the noble characters have much less than noble motivations and secrets. The opening of the book plays up the orc warleader sent to reclaim a weapons cache in preparation for the 'Last Battle' between good and evil, which is well on its way. They are assisted by a pair of halflings whose cute demeanor is contrasted with extremely violent acts. The orcs uncover a dragon's hoard of modern military weaponry, which is endowed with a geas that transforms their minds into replicas of the stereotypical United States Marine Corps mindset, during the Vietnam War. Gentle continues the storyline through the Last Battle and the orcs' integration into society, along with a military threat that rivals the orcs themselves."
