I finally saw a James Bond movie

I finally saw a James Bond movie.
The Man With the Golden Gun.  1974.
Roger Moore.  Christopher Lee.

Never saw one before.
Don't plan on seeing another one.

Honestly ... what's the big draw for James Bond?
The dude is ****y.   Hits women.
Revolving bed ... sleeps with anything that moves.
Dips his wick in the company ink.
And wears a suit and tie while running around killing bad guys.
Lame.

I don't get it.  What's the draw?

I know the Brits think he's awesome ...
Kinda like they like Dr. Who and think he's awesome.
Some British nationalism/patriotism going on there (which is fine).
But other than that ... who watches this stuff?
Apparently a lot of people cuz' it's popular.

But really .... what gives?    Pffft.
Maybe I shouldn't base the whole franchise on one film?
Dunno'.

The Man with the Golden Gun isn't even Moore's best Bond movie and Moore is the 4th best Bond at best. Live and Let Die was Moore's best Bond movie the the Spy who Loved Me, but the franchise was moving towards a sillier and lighter phase. The darker and grittier Craig movies are top shelf OO7 IMHO

Daniel Craig Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan all have superior Bond interpretations.

and yeah its a may be a bit of a guy thing... but Ive been going to Bond movies with my Dad since I was 8 or 9 early Connery era, you might not be the target audience.

I still wouldn't base it on one Bond film.

Batman, the 60s TV show, is different than Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Batman

Both Brosnan's and Craig's versions are less misogynistic, better Bonds, better, more entertaining Bond movies.

Moore was always considered a Bond "Lite"  I can watch the films nostalgically, but only 2 Moore films are even close to the other 3 and only marginally so.

They are just good fun.
You did pick a bad one. Well not as good.
Live and Let Die is definitely way better. That Tarot reader is hot. ha!

I think Goldfinger might be Connery's best? anyone?

The silliest one was From Russia With Love.  the Soviet soldier/agent chick just defects because Bond is sooooooo awesome? rofl

If you're just getting started on Bond movies, watch in this order...

Connery
Moore
Skip right over Brosnan and Dalton and go straight to Daniel Craig. Brosnan is watchable, but Dalton....ugh.

Brosnan and Dalton are fine actors, they just don't have that badass 007 swagger.

They’re campy.

Not supposed to be anything else.

It is Brit tongue in cheek humour FF , all those spies were a bunch of fags IRL so they had to make Bond a lady killer , However there is interesting things to notice in the script writing for those with eyes to see Diamonds are forever was getting filmed in 1969 , Bond running through the moon landing set   Lol.

The world is not enough came out in 1999 and was about oil pipelines and with hindsight we now know Iraq and Afghanistan were all about the proposed oil pipelines that were planned to run there .

The writers are anything but stupid on world affairs
Never argue with a idiot as you will get dragged down to his level and beaten with his vast experience

Loved the movie, in my top 5 best Bond movies.

The thing with Brosnan is that his Bond finally got away from the campy-toned Moore and even Dalton supposedly fought for a more serious  and darker treatment of the Living Daylights and was over ruled
