If it's about saving the most lives and it should be...
heres a different perspective ...
For this 2-day weekend, a reasonable estimate is 200–250 vehicle fatalities nationwide.
If
We could snap our fingers and magically end all mass shootings; it's number of victims is minuscule compared to those who die just as needlessly on our roads and highways, not to mention our other accidental deaths.
Not suggesting we don't need to work on the mental health aspect, especially our veterans' mental health. Imagine if 1% of our defense budget went to helping ALL or our veterans, especially those who fought in combat...
look at the causes of death in the US
Out of the 13 listed, ive lost close family members and friends to them 10 off them and none of those gun related
Every one of these deaths could be mitigated by more stringent laws, like what RFKjr is working on for example.
Aren't all innocent deaths equal?
Estimates are that there are 100-150 tree-related deaths roughly equal to mass shootings
Quote:
In the U.S., based on 2023 data from the CDC and other reliable sources, the following specific causes of death have higher annual fatalities than mass shootings (which account for ~105 deaths per FBI active shooter data):
- Heart Disease: ~695,000 deaths (leading cause of death).
- Cancer: ~610,000 deaths.
- Accidents (Unintentional Injuries): ~227,000 deaths, including:
- Motor Vehicle Crashes: ~41,000 deaths.
- Falls: ~44,000 deaths.
- Drug Overdoses: ~108,000 deaths (primarily opioids like fentanyl).
- Poisonings (non-drug): ~6,000 deaths.
- Drowning: ~4,000 deaths.
- Choking/Suffocation: ~5,000 deaths.
- COVID-19: ~150,000 deaths (2023 estimate, down from earlier years).
- Stroke: ~160,000 deaths.
- Chronic Lower Respiratory Diseases: ~142,000 deaths.
- Alzheimer’s Disease: ~120,000 deaths.
- Diabetes: ~100,000 deaths.
- Kidney Disease: ~54,000 deaths.
- Suicide: ~49,000 deaths.
- Influenza and Pneumonia: ~41,000 deaths.
- Homicide (all causes): ~20,000 deaths (mass shootings are <0.5% of this).
- Firearm-Related Deaths (total): ~43,000 deaths (including suicides, homicides, and accidents; mass shootings are ~0.2% of this).
These figures reflect broad categories and specific subcategories from CDC’s 2023 mortality data and NHTSA for vehicle deaths. Even within narrower contexts, causes like accidental falls, overdoses, or suicides far outnumber mass shooting deaths. For perspective, even rare causes like lightning strikes (20–30 deaths annually) or animal attacks (100 deaths) can approach or exceed mass shooting fatalities in some years.
Mass shootings account for approximately 0.05% of accidental and vehicle deaths in the United States.
To arrive at this figure, use the most recent comparable data (2023, per CDC and NHTSA reports):- Number of mass shooting deaths: 105 (FBI active shooter incidents, excluding shooters).
- Number of accidental deaths: 227,000 (CDC unintentional injury deaths, the fourth leading cause of death).
- Number of vehicle deaths: 41,000 (NHTSA motor vehicle crash fatalities).
Add the denominators: 227,000 + 41,000 = 268,000.
Divide the numerator by the denominator: (105 / 268,000) × 100 ≈ 0.05%.
This uses the FBI's conservative definition of mass shootings (public active shooter incidents with fatalities). Broader definitions (e.g., Gun Violence Archive's 4+ victims shot, excluding shooters) would yield a slightly higher but still negligible percentage (~0.1–0.2%), as they include more incidents but average fewer fatalities per event. Mass shooting deaths represent under 0.5% of all homicides and ~0.2% of total gun deaths overall.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints -- Mormons are actually Christians.
According to the World Christian Encyclopedia, there are over 45,000 different Christian denominations in the world, and around 1,200 of them exist in the United States alone.
You all can "duke it out" -- which one is the "true" Christian.
