Maybe we could argue the point of my contention.

"Mental condition" seems radically predestined and constrained to a framework of "medical assessment"

I wonder if all the contextually relevant minority social classes actually consider themselves "sick."

And project the image and language of "illness" upon what, at the very least they proclaim is 
"normal" for them... reeks of a "normalcy" bias of your own.

The aberrations and frictions produced SOCIALLY seems a relevant factor in the response it
has very clearly evoked.

If we dare to validate the assumption that these people are not free to be whom the feel they are,
how can we ever possibly be free ourselves, or our children?

Then we should tell schizophrenics that the voices are real.

There certainly are mentally troubled folks in the world, some are made that way by others, some are born that way, some overcome it everyday, as best they can... 

Why should those never be gay or trans or whatever social label you prefer really I suppose.

But to describe it as an illness might be both cruel to people who choose and feel natural with this, and enforcing a stigma that mentally ill people are shameful.

It's all kinds of presumptuous... doc.

But it's cool... we go with what we know.
You say they are sick.

I say maybe not.... and in fact, 
mental illness seems only expressed as social currency,
not in the individual.

Now you use their plight to impinge on some people who "choose" wrongly.

I can't say they are right... I am not them.
They do make a lot of noise though right?

This behavior surfaced LONG ago friend.

It was both vilified and glorified alternately in different places in different times.

It was never, I believe, considered "normal" and maybe even to a degree is was some 
manner of celebration (if you can imagine it)...

But normality is not a "consensual" thing... that seems only an imperative in some societies...
particularly a few less ancient ones...

It seems so.... you exemplify that.... calling any move away from consensus normality as obvious mental illness.

I don't condone this life choice, even less for new adults... but I suspect we would do more harm
treating it as the temperance league treated alcohol during prohibition...

To go even further down the touchy feely path... is this how we should treat sick people?
Calling them "ill" and crushing their dignity in public... it leads to toxic pride.

It is an assault on me.

I have to change my language, change my behavior to accommodate those with the mental aberration.

It has been dictated to me that I have to accept this "condition" as normal.

I have lost my right to freely express because I might get fired, canceled, denied basic necessities.

I have to obey the dictates of a small group of people with a mental condition or else I will be punished.

How is that freedom?

Sounds more authoritarian than anything else.
