I use many varying news sources and they all said the same thing, that Trump did not deferentiate or say that peaceful protests would be allowed. Not sure what source you are looking at...Fox News maybe?

At no point did any rational thinking person think that. You just imagine the worse and assume it's reality with zero evidence to indicate you had anything to be worried about in the first place. Violent and unlawful  demonstrations were escalating.  Actual citizens were in danger, and the local leadership allowed the violence and took no action to stop it. The federal government had to step in to protect actual legal citizens from violent criminal actions that were escalating.
