But that only makes the problem worse. Less air conditioners to increase load means next time they will need even more energy. More people will get air conditioners because they now know they need them. 

Then there are all the electric vehicles and data centers being added all the time. Where do they get the power?

Air conditioning is the least of our concerns compared to our housing crisis.

Some poor sods dont even have a roof above their heads, never mind air conditioning.

Seems to me the key question isn't whether we're running out of power.

But can we expand supply and manage demand fast enough?

And it's the same problem most socalled first-world nations face in this day and age.

The likes of "Hinkley Point C" will help there, but it won't be ready until at least 2030.

The answer is to build more nuclear power plants up and down the island.

Because they are the only means at our disposal capable of meeting our future energy demands.

And even then, that will only be true for a while...

It depends. In Portugal, around 70% to 80% of the electricity produced comes from renewable sources (mostly hydro, wind and solar power). Besides that we use natural gas and oil.
Portugal doesn't have nuclear power plants, but sometimes we import electricity from Spain or France, as all European countries are connected to each other.

I wouldn't be surprised if that were true.

I saw yesterday that in France, in the last week or so, they had an excess mortality of around 1000 people because of the current heat wave.
One of the reasons is the high percentage of older people, as with age we lose part of the capacity of controlling body temperature.
Also, 41º C. is a lot of heat for people that are not used to it, 15º C or more above the average temperature at this time of the year.

You are missing my point. When they say the solution is to use more electricity and all that is produced is already in use, something has to shut down or it all goes dark. 

The same for global warming. More data centers and dark fields (solar farms) are adding to the heat. 

The solution is becoming more of a problem than so called fossil fuel ever was.

Have you not played disyworld? A planet simulator based entirly on the color of flowers to control the environmental temperature. The darker the flowers, the higher the temperature. 

Solar farms are just like covering the Earth with dark colored panels. Dark colored panels get hotter and give of that heat. 


And the air conditioner fighting has begun. Not sure if I would call it riots yet but it is getting there. 




And even the political blame game thrown in for good measure.

As I have already said, they are making their own global warming predictions come true.
