I agree, I’m just trying to understand why he would do it in the first place.

It's a head scratcher for sure.

As to why he did it, it might just have been to take a shortcut.

And then the tragic sequence of events snowballed.

As soon as he chose to tailgate the ambulance into a restricted area full of thousands of people.

His actions, whilst completely illegal and deplorable, are not exactly out of kilter with trying to escape the scene in one piece.

Willing to bet he was in fear for his life too ,surrounded by a bunch of drunk rowdies who feared he was there purposely to run them over.  A perfect misunderstanding and cockup.

Perfect storm I suppose.

The moral of the story being.

Trying to take shortcuts by tailgating ambulances.

Can have some very serious repercussions.

Not seeing any in the video?  Why do you think that?

He only seemed to get surrounded after he had driven into people.

I dont know, Liverpool town centre is not really an area I've frequented much.

If it's bollards you mean, they are just about everywhere in most town centres here in the UK.

But i would have thought they were there to stop vehicles as opposed to pedestrians.

Didnt check video was just hypothesising based on previous urban explorations - often to control vehicles they have those there right, but then the ambulance can remove them to get to emergencies.

I think the road was closed to keep all those fans safe.

I have some professional experience of temporary road closure Orders

Even stupider then if he knew it was a peds only zone and was chasing the ambulance as a short cut.
So there were no drugs in his system?
