This deserves watching but... in this day and age, it deserves an investigation
Man arrested after allegedly threatening Dearborn religious marchers on social mediaAnthony James Young faces two misdemeanor counts and up to one year in prison for allegedly posting 'Someone should show up and let a couple of clips out.'

Quote:BREAKING AMERICA America’s First Islamic-Controlled City Enacts Sharia—Non-Muslim Arrested Over Facebook Post This is where it begins. When a city welcomes Islam into political power, the mask comes off. Dearborn, Michigan — now a Muslim-majority city with a Muslim mayor- The post by Amy Mek highlights a controversial situation in Dearborn, Michigan, where a non-Muslim, Anthony Young, was arrested and subjected to severe pre-trial restrictions for a vague Facebook post, while large-scale public demonstrations by Muslims chanting "Death to America" and supporting Hezbollah face no legal repercussions, suggesting a disparity in law enforcement that the post frames as "Sharia justice."
- This narrative is set against the backdrop of Dearborn becoming the first Arab-majority city in the U.S. in 2023, with a Muslim mayor, Abdullah Hammoud, and a Muslim police chief, Issa Shaheen, appointed in 2022, which the post implies has led to a two-tiered justice system favoring Muslims, drawing parallels to perceived issues in the UK under Muslim Mayor Sadiq Khan.
- The post's claims are part of a broader discourse on the integration of Islamic law (Sharia) in Western contexts, where, despite legal protections for religious practices under the First Amendment, Sharia cannot supersede U.S. law; however, the post suggests a perceived erosion of free speech and equal treatment, potentially influenced by cultural and political shifts within the city, though it lacks direct evidence of Sharia law being formally enacted or superseding U.S. law.

- There is no link.
- I'm not surprised at all. Dearborn is a crap hole. I knew someone from near there. They called it 'little Saudi'. This was 25 years ago. I am sure it is much worse now.

I can't find a single source that backs up that claim. Sounds like made up bullshit to rule up people using false claims.
There was a resident that made death threats on FB from Dearborn a week ago but that's what happens when you threaten people like that.

Caught me mid-edit... it's got links now and my opinion
Dumbazz suggested emptying some clips at the crowd, which, to me, deserves an investigation. Let's see where it goes..,

link to the Rair Foundation, basically accusing Dearborn of a double standard, which is technically true..

Quote:Dearborn has become the model city of America’s double standard: where a non-Muslim can be jailed for a reckless Facebook post, but Muslims can openly chant ‘Death to America’ and glorify terrorists without consequence.
Dearborn, Michigan, has become the model city for America’s double standard: a place where the mayor and police chief, both drawn from a radical-aligned Islamic community, wield power not to protect free speech, but to punish dissent.
In November 2021, Abdullah Hammoud made history as the first Arab-American and Muslim elected as mayor of Dearborn. Just a year later, in 2022, he elevated Issa Shahin to become the city’s first Muslim police chief. Shahin is the 47-year-old son of an Egyptian father and Albanian mother, married to a Jordanian-American woman. He now controls Dearborn’s law enforcement arm.
Together, Hammoud and Shahin represent a historic shift: both of Dearborn’s most powerful offices, political and police, are held by Muslim men deeply tied to a very controversial Islamic community. And that fact matters, because under their leadership, a troubling pattern has emerged. Non-Muslims are punished for reckless words, while Muslims are shielded when they chant open incitement.

So essentially, we must worry about and check Trump's creeping authoritarianism...
But is it OK for Dearborn, MI, to arrest a man over a Facebook post?
Keep in mind I agree completely with the investigation; everything else though seems heavy-handed

What am I missing? Not seeing sharia law being involved.
If Anthony James Young made that threat, there should be consequences.
Same as if a Muslim, a transgender, a Venezuelan, an asshole, or a gang-banger makes threats to anyone.
Remember no one is above the law?

The original X.com post the Rair Foundation asserts it's a double standard to come home and arrest an individual for threats when the crowds protesting were chanting death to America
which, while technically true a threat is a threat; it's the individual who seems more of the risk than the distasteful Muslim protestors in Dearborn
FWIW, the individual seems remorseful, and suggests it was just a Facebook argument and had no guns on his person

Remorse is good.
But somewhere along the line it looks like people started to think threats are free speech. And that there is free speech on the internet.
You should not be posting things in public unless you are ready to face the consequences.
Seems like about 90% of people don't know what Free Speech means, per the Constitution. The old yelling fire in a movie theatre thing.

Is wearing an ankle monitor heavy handed? Or the $5,000 bail?
Trump just ended cashless bail in D.C.
Quote:A 27-year-old man has been charged in connection with allegedly threatening people at a weekend event in Dearborn, police said.
Anthony Young of Garden City was arraigned Monday in 19th District Court on a misdemeanor count of malicious use of telecommunication services. Bond was set at $5,000 and he was ordered to wear a GPS tether.
Officials said the Garden City resident threatened to harm people attending a Saturday march for justice and commemorating the Muslim holiday of Ashura. They arrested the suspect hours after the threats were made.

There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people. - Commander William Adama
