If he's reassembled the thing, the question begs, did he want it to be found? 

Or was there some other motivation that explains his actions?

Based on his actions...the stupid shit was clearly panicking...but he absolutely didn't want the law to collect the murder weapon to be used against him as evidence.
He also truly wanted to get away with this and, at that point, definitely didn't want to die (or he's have off'd himself).

Consider that he'd just killed someone for his transgender, Furry, Leftist boyfriend in the name of love...and was looking forward to a hero's welcome and accolades from his fellow lefty friends and a grateful transgender lover.

Claiming leftists "enjoy this tragedy" or "feign ignorance" is based on your own subjective perception, not evidence.

Hun, social media and the internet are full of examples of the idiots filming themselves rejoicing over this and posting how happy they are over it.   There are a ton of people on the left enjoying it.   And to be fair, when someone on the left gets hurt, there are people on the right who do the same thing.   Although I do admit that you don't see as much of it.   Still ... it's there.

There is video of the shooter limping down a residential street heading toward the venue.
Limping because that rifle was stuffed into one pant leg.
Then there’s video of him jumping off the roof with a duffle bag with the rifle stuffed inside it.
Then there’s video of him limping down that same residential street away from the venue.
Limping because that rifle was, again, stuffed into one pant leg.
The video continues and shows he disappears, still limping, behind a house in the woods.
After a moment he can then be seen running quite normally.
No longer limping because he stashed the rifle in the woods.
This leads me to believe that rifle was not broken down.
I’d offer that that Mauser could not be broken down or he would have done so.

It's not really 'doxxing' when the idiots put their faces and their names out there while they are spewing.   Exposing that isn't 'doxxing'.    'Doxxing' comes when the person is anon. and gets exposed as to who they are.
