Techically oil is the ultimate narcotic to which we are all addicted.

I mean, think about it, it delivers short-term benefits, creates dependency, and we build tolerance.

As to the withdrawal symptoms, those don't even realistically bear thinking about.

Suppose that's a topic for another thread, i digress.  Saint2

Don't be silly; he just finds the inside of his mouth incredibly tasty.

He probably had something delicious for lunch, and it made him jovial.
The free world, the people in the world who love freedom are celebrating Maduro's end of his illegal rule of Venezuela. Even people in Cuba, another commie state, and citizens of China as well are celebrating this as a huge victory for freedom.

Trump just SQUASHED an actual king. And the left hates this. Secretly they love kings. Now the world has one less king. Spin Lol  (A couple posts down King denial is occurring, not ignorance being denied by the way). Maduro was a king, acted like a king, ruled like a very evil and cruel king.)

That interpretation falls apart pretty fast.

Maduro isn't a king.

He is/was a ""president"" that came to power through ""elections"" that were later apparently manipulated.

Calling him a king is just daft rhetoric.

And the idea that "the left loves kings" makes no sense.

Left-wing politics is literally built on opposing monarchy and concentrated power.

And even if Maduro is gone, it hardly equates automatically to equal freedom for Venezuelans.

Outcomes matter, not chest-thumping.

And as far as i can establish most governments are worried, not cheering, because military strikes and capturing sitting heads of state sets dangerous precedents.

As does threatening other nations with the same.

Like Mexico, Cuba, or Colombia, for instance.

Wouldn't it be nice if they were selling oil instead of narcotics?  It looks like we're getting one or the other.

Wouldn't you rather have Venezuela profiting from a legal, necessary commodity?

The kicker is, we could not have a lot of narcotics without oil, or a lot of other modern-day luxuries.

Supply, demand....and addiction are things.

Truth is, some people are always going to want both.

Venezuela already sells oil, and still has the corruption and narco ties.

Do you really imagine that's going to change much because Trump removed a few people?

Or will it just change who gets paid?

Oil profits didn't help the ordinary people, or if they did, it was only a specific few.

Anyhoo its a quarter past three on my end.

I'm away for some sleep, and if im lucky a fried breakfast when i wake up(another thing oil makes possible with gas).

Good night DI.  Saint2

Theyve been manipulated since Chavez was president. Maduro is a dictator.

Left wing politics always needs a bigger government for their ever expanding set of rules and taxes. So no matter how much they say they are against concentrated power, their politics inherently come with it.

What if I don't think about it like that?

What if it's too abstract for me to connect such an event to ideas like  "freedom" and "caring about a specific corrupt government in South America," to call it a foray into globalist altruism?

Jesus, It's like Narco-Greneda that's also sorta communist, with strong ties and support in The East.

So instead of viewing it through that starry-eyed lens in the name of world freedom, I will view it as...

"LMFAO, @PeoplesRepublicofChina, we just PWND your South American black market bitch state. ALL THEIR OIL IS NOW OURS! AS WE ARE NOW IN CONTROL. MUHAHAHAHA!"

And then..

"STFU world.  What are you gonna do, send The ICC after us? Lol. You can't do shit except carefully craft your responses to us temporarily taking over Venezuela."

Because that is how I would rather view it. Looking at it like that makes my brain hurt less, and there is no refined sugar kool-aid drink to force down.

Like I mentioned, Venezuela's heavy crude is capital-intensive to extract and refine.

Placing sanctions on Venezuela crippled their ability to produce oil affordably and they needed another source of income.

Replacing the dictator Maduro with a legitimate government will open the door to rejuvenating oil sales.
