UFO Solid Light Cases.
#1
There's been quite a number of very strange reports over the years describing UFOs emitting.some kind of 'solid tube'' light beam (which appears to extend, retract or stop abruptly in mid-air) and looks like Australian researcher Bill Chalker is in the process of compiling a review of the subject - Professor Michael Swords has also posted quite a few case examples at the link below along with a nice definition.

Along with research from NASA's Paul Hill (link), Dr. Jacques Vallee also speculates about the nature of the phenomenon and lists symptoms of individuals reported to have been struck by UFO light beams in encounters like the Colares case from 1977 - there's also an interesting list here from the late USO researcher Carl Feindt citing UFO 'beams of light into bodies of water' from the present day right back until 1934.

Quote:There are many reports of strange "beams of light" emanating from UFOs. Some have been described as "searchlights, which would turn in a sweeping motion, shining light opposite to the direction the UFO is moving". Other beams are described as "laser-like" (focused, seem to exhibit no dispersion with distance - collimated light), but may also appear "almost solid", propagate (extend/retract) slowly, and stop abruptly in mid-air. Such luminous beams directed from the UFO towards the ground could be columns of ionized air, related to or a byproduct of UFO propulsion. Certain beams seem to be used for inspection or transportation. Some may be weapons, having as a purpose the projection of heat, the disruption of electric and electronic equipment, and even the temporary paralysis of individuals. Finally some could just be powerful beaming spotlights, to light up the terrain.

What We Think We Know About UFOs

Speculation from Dr. Jacque Vallee's book Confrontations.

Quote:Researcher Dr Jacques Vallee went to South America to investigate the numerous reports of UFO close encounters that have resulted in the death or injury of witnesses. The results of his extensive field investigations are detailed in his book Confrontations: A Scientist's Search for Alien Contact, which is recommended to anyone interested in pursuing this matter. For example, in Parnarama in central Brazil, Vallee reports that at least five people are reported to have died "following close encounters with what were described as boxlike UFOs equipped with powerful light beams.."

After asking various forensic pathologists to review his findings, Vallee claims that "what UFO witnesses describe as 'light' may, in fact, be a complex combination of ionising and non-ionising radiation. Many of the injuries described in Brazil, however, are consistent with the effects of high-power pulsed microwaves." (p.124) Later he points out that pulsed microwaves may "interfere with the central nervous system. Such a beam could cause the dizziness, headaches, paralysis, pricklings, and numbness reported to us by so many witnesses." (p.202)

Quote:Slow Light And UFOs.

Bill Chalker wrote the other day. He's contemplating making a review of so-called "solid light" UFO cases, and I welcome that. Bill's a hard-science-trained UFOlogist and might just be able to make some sense of a real puzzlement in this field. He asked me if I'd scour my files for such cases (since I'd foolishly admitted to having around 44 of such things), and so I did, making a list for him to pursue and build his analysis more robustly (Bill already had a bigger bunch than that).

Took you long enough.

Looks something like this. "Sparks" doesn't travel up the wire.

Ha yes it did mate - things are pretty wild here at the mo so don't get too much free time.

Appreciate the vid and perhaps Vallee is onto something when he speculates that "what UFO witnesses describe as 'light' may, in fact, be a complex combination of ionising and non-ionising radiation" - in the book linked above he also postulates about human psychological UFO effects being consistent with "high-power pulsed microwaves."

Also enjoyed re-reading that Professor Swords article (great chap) and he reckons the specific observation may have more to do with 'speed'.

Quote:Notice that I said "slow light" phenomena. I believe that this is getting closer to what's happening than calling this "solid light". Light has a velocity. That velocity is altered by the medium through which it passes, but in normal everyday Earth experience, is REALLY quick in our atmosphere. But "these guys" can slow it way down it appears. Even to stopping it.

Anyway here's more on the subject from Aussie researcher Bill Chalker.

String with a metal tip and a laser....plasma cutters...magic

Wide beams of laser light torching humans sounds like Cthulhu. Wasn't Hal Puthoff some kind of laser scientist? He is probably the guys that knows if this is possible or if UFO's are cosmic horrors. "Solid" light is probably just everything in the lasers eye getting transmuted into plasma  [Image: cthulhu.gif] things that are close to plasma already like gasses. Spin on a laser..makes my brain hurt  [Image: cthulhu.gif] [Image: cthulhu.gif] [Image: cthulhu.gif]
Quote:Spintronics (a portmanteau meaning spin transport electronics), also known as spin electronics, is the study of the intrinsic spin of the electron and its associated magnetic moment, in addition to its fundamental electronic charge, in solid-state devices.
Quote:Introducing spin-polarized carriers in semiconductor lasers reveals an alternative path to realize room-temperature spintronic applications, beyond the usual magnetoresistive effects. Through carrier recombination, the angular momentum of the spin-polarized carriers is transferred to photons, thus leading to the circularly polarized emitted light. The intuition for the operation of such spin-lasers can be obtained from simple bucket and harmonic oscillator models, elucidating their steady-state and dynamic response, respectively. These lasers extend the functionalities of spintronic devices and exceed the performance of conventional (spin-unpolarized) lasers, including an order of magnitude faster modulation frequency. Surprisingly, this ultrafast operation relies on a short carrier spin relaxation time and a large anisotropy of the refractive index, both viewed as detrimental in spintronics and conventional lasers. Spin-lasers provide a platform to test novel concepts in spin devices and offer progress connected to the advances in more traditional areas of spintronics.

Something here I lost...make no sense now, dimensions.

Scientists Have Confirmed the Existence of a Third Form of Magnetism

Quote:In an altermagnet, however, the direction of spin (which influences magnetism) can vary on the “grid” formed by what’s known as an ideal crystal—a material whose crystal patterns are perfect and not interrupted by faults, directional changes, or a host of other things that can all happen naturally. Many natural diamonds are ideal crystals, for example, which is part of what gives them their extremely clear appearance. But metals can be ideal crystals as well.

Lost count of how many times 'plasma' pops up in speculation about UFO research.mate and thanks for the link on magnetism - very interesting stuff.

Lots of freaky examples discussed in the links above and did see Professor Swords comment on the Red Bluff police case from 1960 - he states that the “light beam projected by the object seemed like what would be described today, as a big, fat laser beam. That is, it did not spread out or diffuse “properly.” But worse than that, the beam seemed to have an “end" to it,”.

Here's a relevant quote taken from the police UFO statement thread - apparently the object was performing aerial feats that were "actually unbelievable".

See 16:00

Statement:

Quote:Red Bluff UFO flap, August, 1960:

• "At this time it was clearly visible to both of us. It was surrounded by a glow making the round or oblong object visible. At each end, or each side of the object, there were definite red lights. At times about five white lights were visible between the red lights. As we watched the object moved again and performed feats that were actually unbelievable.

At this time, we radioed Tehama County Sheriff’s Office requesting they contact local radar base. The Radar Base confirmed the U.F.O. – completely unidentified.

We made several attempts to follow it, or I should say get closer to it, but the object seemed aware of us and we were more successful remaining motionless and allow it to approach us, which it did on several occasions. Each time the object neared us, we experienced radio interference.

We returned to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office and met Deputy Fry and Deputy Montgomery, who had gone to Los Molinos after contacting the radar base. Both had seen the U. F. O. clearly and described to us what we saw. The night jailer also was able to see the object for a short time, each described the object and its maneuvers exactly as we saw them."

• Chinese Air Force case from 1998 where light beams were 'sticking out from the bottom of the UFO ending on a certain length':

Quote:Apart from many other cases I was also drawn towards a Chinese event I located that occurred in 1998 at a desert Air Force base, involving a Chinese Air Force F-6 pursuit.  The possibly striking confirmation of Zhao Xu, who is described as a famous Chinese Defence expert in unmanned aircraft, as one of the various high level witnesses, who mentioned "Surprisingly these two light beams of light were not as we normally see light beams, as has been according to the distance and spread, but as two light-emitting entities, sticking out from the bottom of the UFO ending on a certain length. At least today we have not got control of this sort of light technology."  Radar detection was also involved.  Given this comment was made by a defence specialist I suspect some Chinese military science investigation and research since then.

• UFO light beam report taken from the Civilian Saucer Investigation bulletin issues:

Quote:The May, 1953 issue contained a most unusual one from Mrs. A. M. King, of P.O. Box 2162, Nairobi, Africa. While enroute to Capetown on the S.S. Llandovery Castle at the end of June, 1947, Mrs. King observed a spectacular sighting. It occurred at approximately 11 P.M. The object was sighted as the ship was going through the Straits of Madagascar. "We noticed a particularly bright star. It was traveling very fast and approached the ship. Suddenly; a searchlight appeared which flashed a strong beam of light on the water within 50 yards of the ship. It descended, its beam shortening and becoming brighter as it neared the water, and the next instant there was no more light, but an object appeared, apparently made of steel and shaped like a cigar cut at the rear end. It remained in the air about 20 feet above the sea, parallel with the Llandovery Castle, and traveling in the same direction.
