Trump says he bombed Iran
(05-16-2026, 09:32 PM)IdeomotorPrisoner Wrote: Okay, catch me up, what point about Iran was initially dismantled to send this into a tangent of defending Trump by insisting this be about an unrelated policy?

Is it a non-sequitur to not admit fault again?

Trump lowering taxes being related to criticizing the situation in Iran is like getting arrested for selling drugs and saying "but I work at a soup kitchen!" In defense.

This is like if went into one of the many "Biden Is Evil" threads of 2020-2024 and defended whatever the criticism was by talking about him continuing the Abraham Accords...  and then calling people something unrelated if they didn't play along.

Any Dark Brandon topic. The Stolen Election. Anything.

My argument could say:

Haha.

No but for real. It’s cool Trump lowered taxes because he and his kin become $B’s richer while Gaza, and previously Afghanistan, and Iraq, and now Iran are all made to become war zones so Big Oil can profit and our sweet new Big Bank system and Digital ID will force poor Americans into poverty, and because of the $1.5T military budget, the ever-shrinking middle class will in effect become poor too. Larry Fink just declared war on the American people for not understanding nor agreeing to any of this. Pretty neat really.

Frankly I never wanted to own a home anyway.

It’s actually our taxes that support this. So yeah. Super important you get this.

Taxes! Amirite!
Dear god, we now have people online mocking lowering taxes.

Are you all communists?
You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other people's opinions.

Ya gotta get a new schtick bud. You sound like ahem, excuse me, the Israelis when people point out facts about the atrocities they commit and they cry about antisemitism. Every time. Not everyone you disagree with is an evil leftist commie goon. Kinda weird you think that way anyway. Seeing as you’re all for Free Speech and stuff. To each their own I guess.

In other news. If you’re so worried about taxes, talk to Dear Leader. If he don’t give a shit about the American taxpayer and their well-being, financial or otherwise, you can imagine how he feels about the plight of the rest of the world that he’s plunged into an impending energy and global trade crisis.

You couldnt recognize my economic policy, DB..

But here it is...

I favor progressive consumption taxes. Like VATs at stages of production over higher income and corporate taxes. I feel it shifts burden from profit and pay to consumption, and something less noticeable and more progressive how it collects revenue.  Tax what you spend as you not what you earn at the end.

And it adds about the same as tatiffs do to the costs of goods, but does it while keeping free market trade free.

I support a flattened simpler tax rate of 26% to 31% at the top, and that can work if you cut out wacky deduction loopholes. Lower rates lead to less people using loopholes and offshoring. Simplified tax codes can work.  Especially with smaller VATs supplementing lower rates.

Works as a wash, but psychological effects matter.  Makes you fiscally conservative to keep more of your earned money.

I also Support a Corporate tax haven competitively below world average to add incentive for incorporation. Like what Ireland does. More incorporation means more higher paying jobs.  More money is made and tax breaks are recouped on what is spent. Pass-through is like trickle-down, only you actually get more money to spend on the more expensive goods.

Like a tiered system, the more anyone or company spends they more taxes they pay, only its done without  wealth redistribution on earnings.

I like to think of it as Market-Oriented Reform and Pragmatic Neoliberalism. Like a Swiss-Irish hybrid.

But WTF do my tax views have to do with the topic?

So when is this thread going back on topic?

Yeah, but fewer people.

60,000 people attended racist Tommy ten names Unite the Kingdom march in London yesterday.

That's down from 130,000 last time around...

Is it true what the protesters were saying, that Muslim immigrants can't or refuse to integrate with British culture? What exactly does integrate look like to them?

Integration into the UK would seem to equate to speaking English, working for a living, and following the law.

As far as i can tell, most Muslims do that a lot better than some of their Gammon cousins.

If in doubt, see the statistics...

The fact of the matter is that there are good and bad folks in all walks of life.

I wen't to school with plenty of Muslims, have worked with Muslims, and have neighbours who are Muslim.

They are just people like the rest of us imho.

I saw one protestor carrying around a picture of Mary and the baby Jesus. I think this is much more than meets the eye as can also be applied to Middle Eastern wars.

How many do you imagine could tell you what the inside of a church or chapel looks like?

But i suppose we are beginning to drift off topic.

My fault, i do apologise...

So on that note.
