Do you know that they don't ? Even though they signed a Nuclear Arms Treaty, they won't let the IAEA inspect certain sites, so HOW do you know ?

Who cares about straits and nukes when ExxonMobil has increased its exports around 30% and is getting substantially higher prices for its product! 

If i was ExxonMobil I would do it too, because you dont stay in business if your business model doesnt capitalize on inflationary spikes or want them. 

Maybe our capital interest doesn't really need it to end, and imports lost is offset by gains only the average person doesnt benefit from.

Only about 2.5% of the crude oil and condensate flowing through the Strait of Hormuz is exported to the United States, representing less than 8% of total U.S. crude oil imports. Because of massive domestic production, very few U.S.-based companies are forced to ship their oil through this Middle Eastern chokepoint.

So if 8% of our imported oil goes through the strait, and imports are only 17% of the total supply, then only 1.36% of that supply has been lost.  1.36% of US oil goes through that strait. And California accounts for a large percentage of US ME oil imports anyway.  We import 50-60% of our oil from foreign countries. Texas doesnt import. Alaska doesnt import. We buy from Alaska. So even the Americans most affected matter less. 

And it's not about our higher prices at the pumps. We are at the mercy of a global fluctuation there. American oil companies can be opportunistic while Gulf companies that export to mostly other countries are the ones impacted most. 

From an America first perspective (that overlooks the prices its people actually pay) its beneficial to our petroleum industrial complex! And that in itself is a bargaining chip to every country depending on exports through that strait..

So its fitting to "Absolutely care the strait gets reopened" while also not really needing that to happen immediately. When from the view at the top, national selfish interests aren't impacted enough to NEED it to be quick anyway.
