Trump says he bombed Iran
(04-22-2026, 06:50 PM)chr0naut Wrote: The end of oil production will not be an instantaneous cut-off. It will deplete gradually as reserves become harder and harder to access.

Despite fracking and newer technologies for extracting the last drops from fields, US oil production peaked in 2010-2011 and has been reducing, initially gradually, since that peak.

US oil use, however, has continued to rise from about 17.81 barrels per day in 2020 to 21 million barrels per day. While the sharp downturn in consumption from 2019 to 2020 almost aligns with the pandemic, it did precede mitigation efforts, and so the change must have been for other reasons than pandemic response.

US oil production then took a sharp and massive downturn in 2022, by about 300 million barrels to a low point in 2023. Since then, recovery has risen, but only by about 70 million barrels. If anyone was 'preserving' your resources, it hasn't been Trump.

While the estimate is that the US has sufficient reserves of oil to last for about 227 years, the recent downturn in production suggests that that the number does not tell the whole story, and the recent acquisitions of low-grade oil stocks suggests that there are issues.

I guess the EU and other nations along with the US shouldn't have gone full retard on green energy then.

(Molly wants to know this important question)  Exclamation

Because the USA's dominance internationally is highly dependent on maintaining the current economic 'status quo'.

Looking up the rift, it appear partially the result of Phelan bypassing Hegseth and talking directly to Trump. So there's evidence some top brass lacks respect for Hegseth. But it is stated (unofficially) as "administrative mismanagement." E.g. failing in building up or maintaining the readiness of the fleet.

Bull.

In the military, you follow the chain of command.

No exceptions.

This isn't partisan, this is a factual observation.

A very vague observation with zero leads for anyone to educate themselves upon you may as well have told me the sky was purple and raining gumdrops  Lol  Tongue

It was contrived and orchestrated, manufactured.

And the sheep fell for it.

The "overlooked humanitarian" is always the focus of those seeking peace.  Its an unpopular war. And they are going to capitalize on ANYTHING to convince people of their correctness. It is a GIVEN.  Downtrodden kids are used by everyone.

But every independent observation says Trump has locked down their imports and it's doing damage domestically.  Which war-wise has to be an objective.

Protein imports are almost gone. Rice and lentils have gone up 7-8X in price.  Essential things they mostly have to import are dissappearing.  They grow their own wheat, but not enough to supply the needs of their bakeries, and they cant feed the country with saffron, without the Southeast Asian rice imports.  So they have dates and pistachios left.

That is probably of use to Trump. He could theoretically put pressure on Iran to step down if Iranians blame the regime's stubbornness for their starvation, but they could also blame The USA for not really caring about them.

More fear-mongering.

And war is only popular for those who want to win.
