Trump promised to help

He bombed the hell out of the government.
He told them that if they want a new way of life in Iran they have to do it themselves.
And that's true.   It's NOT our job.

He could have supported their cause and helped them topple the regime

... and then you folks would be complaining that he was interfering with a foreign government.   Not to mention the fact that it would be impossible for anyone on the outside to do that.   Iran is seeped in religious bullshit that no foreign interference can cut through.

Bitching and moaning about Trump attacking Iran for the 4 weeks the war was happening and then bitching and moaning about the ceasefire and claiming Trump let the Iranian people down.

However, you are correct that it is 'betrayal' (as well as insanity) for Trump to
make statements that he will work in cooperation with the government of Iran
to run the Strait.   NO ONE should be 'running' it.  and no one should be charging
boats to go through it.   It is free international waters.
