US politics is a hot mess

And when we are continuously coerced to keep choosing between the lesser of two evils what do we get?

We're about to find out

Stop and think about that.

The left and the right forget independents win elections. Partisans will down ballot vote no matter what the options are.

I agree with you thesis, and have always said Trump is a symptom of a much larger problem. But now we see a lot of people being honest that he’s far more status quo than outsider. Many of the things he’s doing were dreams of the “deep state” for decades, and it was no secret.

A lot of people will have more memory of Trump than Biden at mid terms and next election. Him doing whatever he wants means the left can shoe in their establishment clowns like they have been for decades and will have a real chance at winning.

God forbid we get an AOC or Newsom. Who knows what she would do, and he’s just a political whore who will do whatever his political senses and inner circle tell him to.

The war in Iran was always a possibility since Bush. Israel tried to lobby many presidents into it; and the public wanted nothing to do with it. Every politician since Bush has campaigned and ran on distancing us from the Middle East.

I am not the left

From my vantage point, there is no distinction between Trump and the left

I said "The Left" I did not say "you".

Why do you feel the need to defend yourself ?

It's a long time till November midterms and 2028. Before the war, I'd just started to live month to month, now Im back to week to week. We are busy now, but I'll need something else to do during the summer, and I really need a side hustle year-round, Biden Democrats told me to learn to code.

Neither AOC nor Gavin is winning in 2028, their bases are to regional and limited....unless the Republicans try and reanimate John McCain if we are stuck in Iran, which may be a distinct possibility.

Im hoping Rubio runs, think he is the much better Presidential candidate... but how Iran turns out could affect him more than Vance.

I don't see a best case scenario with the war for Republicans. Let's say the war ended this week with all of our demands, I don't think that would be a net benefit for the right as most Americans didn't want the war. But there is a bigger chance (IMO) of it being a negative.

But again, I think it goes back to the point of independents winning elections. They are typically going to swing unless the current party in power really did a bunch of good things.

Pre war, many of us made the case we were still in choppy water economically. The counter to that was the stock market, which typically only effects the wealthy and those about to retire, and gas prices which can have some downstream effects.

I know there are talks of peace talks right now, but the actions by both sides say something different than the progress there. Iran and the Houthis have held back in the Red Sea and or the Saudi pipeline to it. If either of those get hit in the near future I think we're looking at another black swan type event... If we don't get there without that.

I personally don't think the left would be any sort of salvation or even beneficial. This is just my perspective on how I think independents would humor a vote for one of the two parties would look at it.

Trump ran for office on the premise of being an 'outsider' and 'enemy of the establishment' due to him never holding political office but he had a long history of political involvement, including large donations, plus his close associations with the political class

Not to mention all the Democrat ties to Epstein which includes Trump

So not really much of an outsider

I don't think Trump was an anomaly

I don't think it was an accident or chance that he was positioned to run against Hillary or Biden

The deep state was likely hedging its bet
Making absolute certain that regardless of which political side wins the elections
They win either way
I am proud that Trump has taken Iran on because it is a major terrorism threat to the region and beyond.

Look how Spain is acting, probably because of Iranian terrorism cells seeded throughout Europe and the US.

They wanted to rule the world, and ONLY Trump has had the balls to take them on.
