Poor strawman. It's always been a big deal as NATO and US own intel reports have detailed for 50 years, the current US admin ignored this and invaded without consent of NATO allies. 

They went against all intel reports and had no strategy to combat the main threat of Iran closing the straight in a clusterfuck that makes The Iraq War seem well planned. They're now desperately trying to pin their own failures on allies instead of coming up with an actual plan.

They knew Iran would hold Hormuz hostage.
They’ve done it for decades.
Why this is news to some is incredible.

It’s a no brainer Iran would shut it down temporarily until they no longer have the means, or will, to continue.
Their means are getting fewer each day, as evidenced by less and less weapons being used by them.
A few weeks in and their missiles and drone launches have shrunk by 90%.

That’s by design, from day 1.

Why is closing the Hormuz an issue?
I’m being told unblocking the Hormuz is only a Middle East issue.

It wasn't a problem a month ago.

We were creative in finding a way to make a region that only supplied 10% of our oil a problem. 

And one of the ways it's being justified is by saying "see, they attacked back". Which, I'm learning through history often happens.
