The ones who called us panicans in June for saying that was just the beginning. Telling us that actually prevented the war.
The same ones who said this would be over quick with regime change and the Shahs son back in power in no time.
Theyll conveniently change their opinion retroactively and say this is saving American lives while we continue to hit record debt as a nation, and the world struggles with energy.

It has?

Really? They've been blocking it for years?? Why is it then Trump's throwing hissy fits because NATO won't run to his rescue in patrolling the straits??
If one of America's ships gets attacked it will likely be by the Israelis, remember they've done it before!!

It's the Middle East. You are dealing with Muslim nations. Everyone plays by a 'different set of rules' or they disappear from the face of the Earth. Playing by the rules is seen as weakness, and over there that is exactly what it is. ALL of those people over there think differently from the people of Europe and North America. That's why, when those people immigrate to Europe and North America, they don't assimilate very well, if at all.

Quote:Out of touch as ever, President Biden celebrated record-high gas prices Monday, gushing that the pump pain was part of “an incredible transition” of the US economy away from fossil fuels.
“[When] it comes to the gas prices, we’re going through an incredible transition that is taking place that, God willing, when it’s over, we’ll be stronger and the world will be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels when this is over,” Biden said during a press conference in Japan following his meeting with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

I simply disagree.
Playing by rules is what separates us from them. When you start targeting civilian infrastructure, or civilians just to salt the earth, we're no different at that point.
There are a lot of different interests at play here. The US interest is to end this conflict as soon as possible while achieving our objectives. I think Israel's interests are to make sure that every Gulf country hates Iran as much as they do (emphasis on I think there, I can't read minds, nor speak for a foreign nation).
There are very few parties who are weathering this well. Russia is probably the only net positive. We are probably doing the best at weathering it for now, until spot oil price begins to equalize. Right now there is about a 50% differential on WTI, Brent and Gulf oil. That's a really long conversation on how that spread got so much disparity, but mainly its a logistics and refinery setup big economic regions have. It will eventually start to get closer to parity.
But understand that this current escalation trap we're on can backfire.
No matter how much someone hates their own government, they're going to hate any government that takes out their clean water and electricity. It will unify populations against foreign threats.
Worse than that, these Gulf countries who have only one major source of revenue have damage and production losses that are soon becoming more than short term problems. It took decades to build all these relationships with those nations, and there are religious elements to their populations. We saw a lot of foreign fighters enter Iraq who were sympathetic to ousting the Westerners... The neighboring countries didn't feel the pain that is being felt now. What happens if Bahrain's government falls? What happens if the Houthis enter and close off the Red Sea too which is supplementing a lot of the lost global supply with the Saudi bypass pipeline?
These aren't new questions. These are scenarios many people have war gamed out in the open for decades.

Iran has had "control" of that straight since 79 and has closed it during conflicts many times. 1988 is the big one, go take a look sometime.

Kevin Hassett yesterday:
Quote:But the fact is that the U.S. economy is fundamentally sound, and that if it were to be extended, it wouldn't really disrupt the U.S. economy very much at all. It would hurt consumers, and we'd have to think about, you know, if that continued, what we would have to do about that. But that's like really the last of our concerns right now, because we're very confident that this thing is going ahead of schedule. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/...cerns.html
His statement isn't much different than Trump's, who just a few weeks after boasting about low gas prices at his State of the Union, using it as a lynchpin of his economic achievements noted that America makes a lot of money if gas prices are high.
What they're both saying is the stock market is more important than the average consumer, which is a different way of saying normal American.

NATO is always coming to the US for a hand, but as soon as we do it, Trump is "throwing a hissy fit". Yeah, that doesnt show how retarded some of you are at all
Not saying they haven't and I'm not saying it's not possible. But again, look at 1988, we won't shy away from sinking your entire navy to prove a point.
