I take it you can't or won't compare the situation now with the escalating oil prices caused by Trump's war with Iran, and during Biden's presidency when oil prices rose because of sanctions on Russian oil, when Putin invaded Ukraine. It was you who claimed 'gas' prices were higher under Biden, yet the prices now are self induced because of Trump's little was with Iran.

The situation now is Trump's own doing.

There were more than 13.2 million barrels of crude oil produced on average per day in 2024 – about 16.8% higher than the average of 11.3 million barrels per day in 2020, according to the Energy Information Administration. The 2024 average eclipsed the previous production record of more than 12.9 million barrels on average per day in 2023. Those production increases led to record exports of crude oil in 2023 and 2024 as well.
Crude oil, natural gas, natural gas plant liquids, biofuels, solar and wind all set domestic production records last year, the EIA said.
On the other hand, crude oil imports also increased under Biden, going up about 12.1% from an average of almost 5.9 million barrels imported per day in 2020 to almost 6.6 million barrels per day in 2024. Annual crude oil imports increased each year under Biden, but were still lower than they were in the most recent years preceding the pandemic.

Iran has been blocking the straight for decades, Trump is no excuse. As much as you want him to be.

We broke oil production records every consecutive year under Biden.

Trump is still breaking those records, but Biden didn’t cut production.

Edit: I phrased this poorly, but am going to leave the above for posterity. We continued to be the top producer in the world each year, there was a sharp falloff in production after COVID due to much of the world being shut down. The US, OPEC and others all decided to cut production. Oil futures were negative at one point, and every vessel that could hold oil was. But we increased production YoY.
