Most shipping companies rely on the Dollar for oil transactions.

Seems to me switching to the Yuan could cause issues.

The companies might face legal or financial risks not yet seen.

Plus, the practical issue of currency conversion and limited yuan liquidity looks to be problematic.

And would it not also signal political alignment with China and Iran?

I imagine a lot of nations, including our own, may wish to avoid that.

The United Nations has no legal jurisdiction.   
We dont' live by what they decree.
They aren't running the world.
They can call it what ever they want.
By our law this is not a war until declared as such by Congress.
