When the chips were down and the US invoked Article 5 of the NATO treaty, all those European nations you mentioned AND Canada AND Australia sent troops to fight beside US troops in Afghanistan.  What did Israel do?

Sent troops.

Yes, it was in an official capacity.  We shared workspace, their job category matched ours, they supported their medical equipment, we did ours, but we worked together.

Im not suggesting they did not cooperate in the likes of intelligence sharing, or support capacity.

But as far as i can establish, their troops were not deployed on the battlefield.

Israel was purposefully kept out so that the other coalition members, specifically the Arab ones, wouldn’t cause a fit.
It wasn’t because Israel didn’t want to.
Israel has a defense force (IDF), not an army.
Similarly, Japan has a defense force (JDF), not an army.
Their roles were both support, not combat.
