This is equivalent to Trump saying he's not going to break the speed limit only to later be forced to break the speed limit to save lives while you people piss and moan about him saying he reneged on not breaking the speed limit.

Let's get real here. Were President Trumps comments wrong? Absolutely. Disgraceful? Nah, that's blowing the comments up bigger that what they were.

Breaking down some facts:

The US supplied 5.5 times the soldiers than the entirety of NATO did and suffered 2 times the casualties (I think that says something about American combat effectiveness).

Americans were THE primary force at every hot zone (read "front line").

Could the US have conducted operations in Afghanistan without NATO assistance? Indubitably.

This doesn't reduce the honorable service and noble sacrifice of those we were privileged to fight beside.

I'd love to start a thread about how all of this conflict...boils down to activists in government...

How important it is to have a government that represents the totality of its citizens, not just those of whom they approve.

It was the entire gestalt of the "secular government' ideal.
