Trump is in talks with Russia to end the war
(03-14-2025, 11:11 AM)sahgwa Wrote: Interesting video.
Heres my rough transcription

Putin hyper intelligent and great linguist. He drives a hard bargain and negotiating is difficult.

Speeches pre 2000's to now are like 360 degrees apart.
Something in him snapped After the Color Revolutions.
He turned from West to East.

He said essentially 'Ukraine is not a real country'
To borrow a phrase from Trump , Putin believes he has all the cards and believes he's winning and can wear everyone down with a long game.

He can be negotiated with if you look at the August hostage trades, but always on his terms. He only respects strength and reciprocity.
Fallacy with him is 'finding pain points on Putin' bad news, he has none. Sanctions dont work. Enticements might work. Thats what Trump is bold and welcoming to Russia. Back to G8 and family of 'civilisation'

Important to Putin is respect on the world stage. Unfortunately he doesnt respond to threats.  People that think Russians do respond to threats, have never lived in Russia.

Talk of the US-Russian Hedge Fund of the past, and us funding now, one of Putin's top negotiators, ironically, who is head of the Russian Soverign Fund.

Russian saying 'We don't take/show our trash out of our house (in public)/we don't hang our dirty laundry out for the eyes of the world.'  The meeting with Z and Trump should have happened in private, like all such past meetings.  Now the US and Ukraine look weak.

Trump uses high risk high reward negotiating.
'Reverse Kissinger'

Our meetings are too public.

Zelensky should approach Trump with more decorum and deference. He should have used an interpreter (like I said as this mess was occurring).

The only lack of decorum at that meeting was on the part of Trump and Vance acting like Mob bosses.

Like something out of the Godfather.

If he'd used an interpreter rather than speaking English he'd probably have been accused of disrespect , too!
I now know why I am called a grown up. Every time I get up I groan.

Quote:Instead of approaching the war in Ukraine from a geopolitical or moral perspective, U.S. President Donald Trump is framing his policy on Russia through the lens of his personal relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to former U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton.

“Trump thinks Putin is his friend. He trusts Putin,” Bolton told the Kyiv Independent.

“Putin thinks Trump is an easy mark. And as a former KGB agent, Putin knows exactly how to manipulate him, and I think that's what he's been doing since the inauguration, if not before,” he explained.

The mere statement from Bolton (if he said that) 'Ceasefire is not in Ukraine's interest' points to nothing but more jingoistic fundraising war hawkery.
By all means, slaughter more humans , if you are not on the battlefield.

'
'Bolton served as a United States assistant attorney general for President Ronald Reagan from 1985 to 1989. He served in the State Department as the assistant secretary of state for international organization affairs from 1989 to 1993, and the under secretary of state for arms control and international security affairs from 2001 to 2005. He was an
advocate of the Iraq War as a Director of the Project for the New American Century,
which favored going to war with Iraq.[8]'
He was the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations from August 2005 to December 2006, as a recess appointee by President George W. Bush.[9]

He stepped down at the end of his recess appointment in December 2006[10][11] because he was unlikely to win confirmation in the Senate, of which the Democratic Party had control at the time.[10][12] Bolton later served as National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump from April 2018 to September 2019. He repeatedly called for the termination of the Iran nuclear deal, from which the U.S. withdrew in May 2018. He wrote a best-selling book about his tenure in the Trump administration, The Room Where It Happened, published in 2020.[13]
Bolton is widely considered a
foreign policy hawk and advocates military action and regime change by the U.S.
in Iran, Syria, Libya, Venezuela, Cuba, Yemen, and North Korea.[14][15][8][16] A member of the Republican Party, his political views have been described as American nationalist,[17][18] conservative,[19][20][21][22] and neoconservative,[23] although Bolton rejects the last term.[24][25][26] He is a former senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI)[27] and a Fox News Channel commentator. He was a foreign policy adviser to 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.[28]

Vietnam War[edit]Bolton was a supporter of the Vietnam War,[35] but avoided combat through a student deferment followed by enlistment in the Maryland Air National Guard.[29][36][37] During the 1969 Vietnam War draft lottery, Bolton drew number 185. (Draft numbers were assigned by birth date. Numbers 1 to 195 were eventually called up.)[38] As a result of the Johnson and Nixon administrations' decisions to rely largely on the draft rather than on the reserve forces, joining a Guard or Reserve unit became a way to reduce the chances of service in Vietnam.[39]'

Zelensky wanted to invoke Article 5 when an errant missile killed a farmer in Poland, you can trust him if you want to. I choose not to trust anyone involved here

Here's another Zelensky quote

Zelensky said that the Kursk operation had fulfilled its task of trying down Russian forces and delaying their deployment to the eastern frontlines.

All I can do is hope we have someone looking out for American interests. It seems that with Europe/NATO, one has to agree with every collective decision they make, even if a country has held the UK and Europe's hands since WWII, even if your country has other immediate concerns and worries. A country is supposed to drop that and go down on bended knee toward the UK and EU, all the while not having one plan on how to actually win or even improve its negotiation position.

Whataboutisms and Trump obsessions aside, I don't think it's in Ukraine's best interest to keep up this conflict.  But it sure is in the interest of  the MIC and those old men who never fought and who profit from others dying.

Yesterday, NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, was in Washington meeting with Trump. Today, Rutte is now confirming that NATO membership for Ukraine is off the table, and that relations with Russia need to be normalized post-war. I don’t know what Trump told Rutte behind closed doors, but based on Rutte’s comments today, it appears he has accepted that Trump holds all the cards. NATO officials are beginning to accept their fate that this conflict is soon going to be over and the money laundering operation is done. Granted, Rutte is still a slimy Soros-owned politician, but it appears even he knows when he is beaten. Trump is dictating the terms for the agreement between Russia and Ukraine, and there’s nothing EU/NATO officials can do about it. This might seem small, but Rutte admitting Ukraine membership is off the table, is a MASSIVE step towards ending this war.

?????? Europe is about to enter the war in Ukraine, British Prime Minister Starmer announced

Plans to send peacekeepers to Ukraine move into 'operational phase' hea says.

- Putin's response to the ceasefire is "not good enough", Starmer said.

- European military leaders will meet as early as Thursday in Britain to discuss sending peacekeepers to Ukraine.

- The British prime minister also emphasized that any peace plan for Ukraine requires mandatory U.S. involvement.

Ah, the "next phase", where the collapse of Ukraine is overseen by an international coalition, to ensure that the spoils are "secure".

I mean, darn Putin!
