A police force has been accused of carrying out an 'appalling' attack on free speech after launching an investigation into a journalist over a post on social media. 
Allison Pearson, 64, claimed two Essex Police officers turned up at her door at 9.40am on Remembrance Sunday to inform her she was being investigated over a post on X from a year ago. 
The award-winning writer said she was still in her dressing gown when one officer at the door said 'I was accused of a non-crime hate incident. It was to do with something I had posted on X a year ago. A YEAR ago? Yes. Stirring up racial hatred apparently'.
Now the force is facing backlash from critics, including Boris Johnson, after Ms Pearson was not told the specific focus of the enquiry. 
Chris Philp, the shadow home secretary and former policing minister, told The Telegraph: 'It is completely wrong that the journalist was not even told about the particulars of the allegation [...].' 
He added: 'I am deeply concerned this will have a chilling effect on free speech and free expression.'

It's not an "obsession", more like a "concern".

If Elon Musk ... who is appointed by the US POTUS and sworn into office to give cost cutting recommendations to the US POTUS ... gives the cost cutting recommendation to the US POTUS of cutting paying tens of millions of dollars to Peru for Trans Comic Books ... how does that 'concern' you at all?   Or gives the cost cutting recommendation to the US POTUS of cutting paying tens of millions of dollars to Ireland for drag queen shows ... how does that 'concern' you at all?  Or gives the cost cutting recommendation to the US POTUS to cut bloated jobs from the IRS department here in the USA ... how does that 'concern'  you at all?

It's American tax payer money that is being saved.  It's our concern.  Not the concern of foreigners ... unless they are benefiting from the waste, fraud and abuse ... then of course they'd be upset by the cost cutting measures that are so drastically needed.

So they send two bobbies to give a 70-year-old woman a summons/or ticket for a misdemeanor social media offense? it's even more ridiculous, that a ticket isn't going to stop a serial offender, but a ticket or summons does jack up a grandmother's weekend, for what? 

All the while, the new ruling class Brits are raising a flag on Big Ben.

And I only post it because thats the point both the US and the UK Europe too, have serious internal, domestic issues, where a prolonged or expanded military adventure in Ukraine isn't advantageous. 

The UK can't even secure its treasured landmarks, but it wastes time and spends pounds enforcing and ticketing Nana for a questionable social media post. Brilliant, it's a misuse of manpower and funds.

The same problem with engaging in war with Russia after watching the 3 years so far. 

There is no solid plan and there is no accounting to see if the money being sent is being used efficiently, these 2 crucial questions need to be answered definitively before we escalate beyond the current stalemate

I know the UK and Europe has always had a proclivity for protests but solidarity for the cause seems to be waning

There is nothing lost by exploring peace talks, if they fail they fail.

Americans would rather try peace talks first before spending another 100 billion in the Kyiv money pit.

The arrest was wrong but justice prevailed when the CPS agreed and dropped the charges.

As for some guy with a flag climbing Big Ben, no biggie.

As for not securing our treasured landmarks, may I just point out you failed to secure your President from getting shot?
