I used to think I wanted to learn to be a better debater.... but then I realized that most people don't agree on what a debate is... what the point of it is...
Some... no, many... think the 'show' is a debate....
The response under pressure - timed - shit-show the media presents as debate.
Debate isn't a performance "for" an audience.
Conduct it that way, and you get what we have now...
Most people think memes and hyperbole and mud-slinging have a place in debate...
they really don't.... unless they themselves are the subject. People honestly think, when
they listen to a political debate... that what they are experiencing
is debate.
A very "not cool" way to destroy the purpose of debate.
I think it's because debate often are ultimately persuasive... that it is fully abused by the
marketeering and 'faux' activism (read partisan-aficionado) crowd... it can be a great show.
However their shows are not really debates... they are staged, and produced... and carried out under a directorial control necessary for production.
I think it's pretty clear that most everyone heard here, does debate.
DI likes to provide a 'space' free from interruption, to pursue such things as the ongoing
IdeomotorPrisoner vs. DBCowboy... which interestingly arose, not from some produced enterprise
... but from a common observation.... people call each others ideas or concepts Fascist or Commie with great ease... perhaps too easily... especially when it's against your own choices.
Hence:
"Yes, it's fair to call the second Trump Administration fascist."
as a proposition....
This is where the tires hit the pavement...
for those confident enough in their reasoning to defend or attack the assertion directly.
Ta da! These two fighters are attempting a "REAL" debate... I applaud them.
