Shots Fired at White House Correspondent's Dinner - Hey! I'm trying to remember to stay on topic  Smilegrin

Reports indicate that Cole Tomas Allen, the 31-year-old man suspected in the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting, was a devout Christian and active in Christian fellowship during his time at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) The Forward+1. Multiple sources describe him as “pretty Christian and mellow” and “prominent at the Caltech Christian Fellowship” PRIMETIMER.

Allen’s manifesto, which he sent to family before the attack, thanked his church and cited passages from the Bible to justify his actions . . .

He also engaged with the “yield unto Caesar what is Caesar’s” passage, reinterpreting it to mean that if political leaders do not follow the law, citizens are not required to obey them . . .

Of course they have it oh-so perfect dont they    Duh

According to Erin Thielman, who was near the scuffle as it unfolded, that wasn’t exactly how it happened. On Monday’s edition of The Situation Room with Pamela Brown and Wolf Blitzer, the conversation went as follows:

The three added that had Allen not fallen to the ground, he likely would have been able to enter the ballroom.

Eyewitness tells CNN WHCD shooter was not tackled by agents as described by Trump admin — he just fell

If he wasnt tackled down by agents, how did they put his face to the floor and handcuff him?    Eureka

I wasn't there.

I simply posted what an eye witness stated.

But it seems as if once he fell down -- he didn't get back up  Smilegrin

Well... depends what you consider desireable, the state you are going to, and where you come from iinitially...

Places like Norway, Switzerland, Czechia, France (especially), Austrailia, Japan, or Canada arent going to see the land of opportunity anymore. The grass is greener there. Especially when they get sick. The mystique of a better life we provide didnt stay better when the world caught up and did it better.

The rest of the world has the world lens, and we are sometimes without the ability to recognize that. Like when we actually suck at doing something and bravado deceives us into thinking it's still better than yours.

But if you're from somewhere "developing" we are still a huge step up i would think..

Officials could not confirm if the shot that struck a Secret Service agent in the chest was fired by the suspect, 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen, during an assassination attempt
Smart..... Don't say what you don't know.

In a news conference Monday, acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche said the "heroic officer who was hit" in his bullet-resistant vest on Saturday fired five shots at Allen, but none of those shots hit the suspect. Blanche could not say whether Allen fired the shot that hit the officer.

Thats ok to disagree Rigel4, nobody is ever going to be completely on the same page.  Thumbup

America certainly has issues.

Take, for instance, the exorbitant healthcare costs, inequality, and political polarisation across the board.

But comparatively speaking its still a desirable place to reside when you look at some of the other areas around the globe.

It's just not the best place in the world to live, like a lot of Americans are told.

As to the ignorance being mandatory, i suggest thats due to information overload...

But if i did not live in the UK i would rather reside in the likes of the USA.

Than say Iraq, Iran, Russia, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Yemen, Haiti, or Syria...

Depends on where you are standing i suppose.

Yeah, this is looking more and more, to me, like a very troubled, confused and perhaps mentally unstable extremely devout religious man thinking he was doing God's work.

"The church where Cole Allen’s father serves as an elder, Grace United Reformed Church in Torrance, California, deactivated its social media accounts and did not respond to requests for comment following the shooting.
  • Allen was also an active member of the Caltech Christian Fellowship during his time at the California Institute of Technology, where he served as a large-group coordinator.
  • Movses Janbazian, pastor of the United Reformed Church in Pasadena where Allen worshipped as a student, described him as a "pleasant," "polite," and "congenial" young man who did not express political views.
  • The Caltech Christian Fellowship did not respond to requests for comment regarding Allen’s actions." (LLM)

    ------------

"Cole Tomas Allen had trouble understanding political activism as a sophomore at Caltech, 11 years before he allegedly attempted to assassinate the president of the United States.

Allen the undergrad was such a “rule abider” that he even had to be persuaded that civil disobedience could be justified and that attending political protests could be more important than Bible study, said Elizabeth Terlinden, who was a member, along with Allen, of the Caltech Christian Fellowship.

Terlinden, 31, described the Torrance resident as “dutiful” and someone who stuck to his beliefs.
“Politics wasn’t on his radar back then,” she said.

Before he allegedly tried to storm the Washington ballroom where President Donald Trump was attending the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner Saturday evening, Allen, 31, sent an email of more than 1,000 words to his family, calling himself the “Friendly Federal Assassin.” He apologized to his family and explained what he was about to do and why: “For all the people whose trust this betrays; I experience rage thinking about everything this administration has done.”"
