Well, the Trump/Musk bromance didn't last long:
https://www.dailymail.longco.uk/gallerie...-bill.html
"This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it,' the SpaceX founder noted. He added: 'It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden America citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt.'"

Trump has now stated that "the easiest way to save money" would be to "terminate Elon's government Subsidies and Contracts".
Musk has now, reportedly, claimed that Trump is named in the "Epstein files".
Considering the unsupervised access Musk's DoGE team was granted in regards to otherwise secure systems, is it too far fetched to believe Elon "has the receipts";
Or at least, thinks he has?

Yes, an interesting development.
To all Members: There's a new thread where you can continue discussing this Trump/Musk relationship.
Trump and Elon fight. Elon says Trump in Epstein files.

This is full-blown Trump neurosis. I like Elon a lot, but he looked like he was tweaking in the Oval Office the other day #1, and no doubt he liked the EV mandate, which Trump removed, and the last straw for Elon's camel was the NASA hire.
Tesla's lost 200 billion over the last 4 months, men have resorted to mind-numbing agents for a lot less
Essentially, Musk wanted favors for his election and DOGE contributions, and Trump didn't agree.
If not, it might be complete subterfuge and distraction

No tax on tips or overtime
$175B for deportations and the wall
Tax relief for seniors
Making his 2017 tax cuts permanent
Trump's bill will add trillions, that's with a "T", to your national debt which will financially cripple people's children and grandchildren in the future.
That's not a good thing.

Oh noes, not trillions with a "T" what will we do. I have been hearing that worst case scenarios with some factual basis of the national debt fear since my childhood, it's never materialized in my 60 years and rarely has in America's history.
Furthermore what makes you think Ive ever believed ANY elected government officials would give a damn about me or any individual.
Is that where you are coming from Trump/Vance don't care about me but Harris/Walz would have?
DC politicians have 2 jobs get reelected and enrich themselves, thier family and cronies.
My Dad clued me a long time ago all you should worry about is being a good person and improving your immediate family's situation because its the only situation one has a modicum of control over, and what he didnt cover Russ Kick and George Carlin filled in the gaps. Both my grandmothers had vivid stories of the Depression, and how the family worked and survived it together.
One can recognize the national debt is real, while also realizing politicians and Wall Street play off of and manipulate those concerns and have made trillions collectively over the years
So begone with your overt paranoid financial calamity concerns... why prescribe to the mantra the TPTB use to manipulate the masses
It's up to the individual it's a dog eat dog world has always been we just get more civilized and proficient in how it's done.
For perspective below is the earliest I could find national debt worries mentioned. Regardless of what I think economics isn't my forte I generally listen to what the mover and shakers the power brokers suggest.
In this case I imagine Warren has a better grasp of the situation than the most anybody on Deny Ignorance.
Buffett said, “I could end the deficit in five minutes. You just pass a law that says that any time there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.”
Heres the earliest concerns over the national debt
Quote:In a 1789 letter to James Madison, Jefferson wrote, "I wish it were possible to obtain a single amendment to our Constitution... I mean an additional article, taking from the federal government the power of borrowing." He later elaborated in an 1816 letter to John Taylor, warning that debt could lead to "a government of the future at the expense of the present," reflecting a fear that excessive borrowing would saddle posterity with ruinous obligations. Warren Buffett’s Financial Plan To Eliminate America’s Debt in 5 Minutes
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/warren-bu...13178.html
Quote:Here are some key takeaways:- Under Article V of the U.S. Constitution, two-thirds of state legislatures could call for a convention to propose an amendment.
- If three-fourths of the states ratified it, it would become law–no Congressional approval needed.
- The odds of that happening are not in America’s favor, as the process would take longer than Buffett’s hyperbolic “five minutes.”
In an interview, Buffett said, “I could end the deficit in five minutes. You just pass a law that says that any time there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.”
Could Buffett’s plan work?
The Essence of Buffett’s Plan Is AccountabilityPassing the buck is common place in politics, but who do you pass it to when the buck stops with you? The current members of Congress would be incentivized to maintain a deficit under 3% of GDP, or risk losing their chance at re-election.
This rule would increase lawmakers’ responsibility for fiscal policies, as their political future would hinge on their ability to manage the nation’s debt. So obviously, it would be highly unpopular among members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

I listen to a different mover and shaker who says the billionaires need to be taxed...problem solved. But your country seems to love making their own in-country problems. Carry on if that's what the people want, but I doubt it is what the people want.

He seems to have changed his tune about the National Debt:

I'm sure that if Biden had added trillions he would have something to say about it.
