President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill officially passes the House

"It’s a revival. If this is just the first four months… imagine the next four years."

(Shudders).....

Do you have a source for any of that apart from whoever David Pollack might be?

Personally I despise most all politicians and find it a little odd when some folk constantly rave about one.

Not to mention, both funny and disturbing, in equal measure.
'l'll just check my Giveashitometer....Nope.  Nothing...

WOW. Just WOW! Inflation DOWN. Incomes UP.
Trade deficit SLASHED.
The Trump Effect is REAL — and the data is undeniable.
Inflation just dropped to 2.1% — BELOW expectations.
Personal income SURGED 0.8% in April — nearly TRIPLE what economists predicted.
Trade deficit cut IN HALF — the largest monthly drop on record.

Even CNBC’s Rick Santelli — no cheerleader — said: “This is a GREAT four-month start to any year. Why don’t we give credit where credit is due?” Let’s connect the dots: Trump’s America First trade agenda is working.

Tariffs are rebalancing global trade.
Families are keeping more of what they earn.

The economy is running on AMERICAN energy, AMERICAN workers, and AMERICAN grit.

Biden tried to wreck it. Trump came in and rebuilt it — fast. This isn’t just recovery.

It’s a revival. If this is just the first four months… imagine the next four years.

Hey ? Cali or Arizona, doesn't change the facts. Hardly anybody uses cash to purchase services anymore and Trump's break only covers cash tips. Right now there are some things positive and I'm all for it, never one to attack the captain while he's steering the ship. However, he is a politician and business man through and through. I would never expect something to be as rosey as it sounds. This particular one just smells nice, but tastes like spoon fed shit

Bottom line: Your reality is not everyone else's reality.

Jobs with lower base wages (e.g., servers, where the federal tipped minimum wage in the U.S. is $2.13/hour) often rely heavily on cash tips as a significant portion of income.

While my career choice may differ from many, it's crucial to acknowledge that cash tipping is a widely accepted practice at trade shows.

Consider the dedicated salaried employees—delivery drivers, setup personnel, catering staff, and service assistants—who consistently earn substantial tips for their hard work.

Approximately 5 million American workers depend on tips, with nearly 2 million located in the Southeast alone.

These figures represent those who report their tips, but it's important to note that an equal number likely do not report them.

Because cash tips under PTOBBB would not be taxed, many low-income individuals who keep their earnings under the table can now report their income, allowing them to build stronger credit ratings and making it significantly easier to access credit and loans. This reality illuminates the critical role that tips play in the financial stability of millions of workers.
Quote:Underreporting Prevalence: The IRS estimates in its Tax Gap studies that only about 55% of tip income is reported, compared to 99% for regular wages, due to the cash nature of many tips, which creates opportunities for underreporting. A 2023 X post suggests that underreporting is common among tipped workers like waitstaff and hairdressers, with some reporting as little as half of their cash tips.

Based on the 4.5–5 million tipped employees and a 50–70% underreporting rate, approximately 2.25–3.15 million Americans likely receive cash tips but don’t fully report them as income, either to their employer or on tax returns. This range is conservative, as some workers may report most but not all cash tips, while others may report none.
Regional Estimates
  • Northeast: 0.45–0.7 million
  • Midwest: 0.4–0.63 million
  • South: 0.9–1.4 million
  • West: 0.5–0.77 million
Cash tips are prevalent in service-oriented jobs where direct customer interaction is common. Based on available data and common practices, here are the primary job categories where cash tips are frequently received:
  • Food and Beverage Industry:
    • Servers/Waitstaff: Waiters and waitresses in restaurants, cafes, and bars often receive cash tips directly from customers, typically 15-20% of the bill in the U.S.
    • Bartenders: Cash tips are common, especially in bars or clubs where customers tip per drink or at the end of service.
    • Food Delivery Drivers: Drivers for pizza or other food delivery services often get cash tips from customers upon delivery.
    • Baristas: Coffee shop workers may receive cash tips in tip jars or directly from customers.
  • Hospitality and Tourism:
    • Hotel Staff: Bellhops, concierges, and housekeeping staff frequently receive cash tips for personalized services like carrying luggage or providing extra assistance.
    • Tour Guides: Guides for city tours, historical sites, or adventure activities often receive cash tips from tourists.
    • Valet Parking Attendants: Customers often tip in cash when retrieving their vehicles.
  • Transportation Services:
    • Taxi Drivers: Passengers commonly tip taxi drivers in cash, especially for short rides or good service.
    • Rideshare Drivers (e.g., Uber, Lyft): While digital tips are common, some passengers still tip in cash, particularly for exceptional service.
    • Shuttle Drivers: Airport or hotel shuttle drivers may receive cash tips from travelers.
  • Personal Care Services:
    • Hairdressers/Barbers: Clients often tip in cash after haircuts, styling, or other salon services, typically 15-20% of the service cost.
    • Nail Technicians: Cash tips are common in nail salons for manicures, pedicures, or other services.
    • Massage Therapists: Customers may tip in cash for spa or wellness services.
  • Other Service Roles:
    • Car Wash Attendants: Workers at hand-wash car services often receive cash tips for detailing or extra care.
    • Street Performers/Buskers: Musicians, artists, or entertainers performing in public spaces often collect cash tips from passersby.
    • Coat Check Attendants: In venues with coat check services, cash tips are common for quick and friendly service.
Key Notes:
  • Cash tipping prevalence varies by region and culture. In the U.S., cash tips are common due to a strong tipping culture, while in some countries (e.g., Japan, South Korea), tipping is rare or discouraged.
  • The shift to digital payments has reduced cash tips in some sectors, with apps like Venmo, Zelle, or in-app tipping options (e.g., Uber, DoorDash) becoming more common. However, cash remains prevalent in situations where customers want to tip directly or lack digital tipping options.
  • Jobs with lower base wages (e.g., servers, where the federal tipped minimum wage in the U.S. is $2.13/hour) often rely heavily on cash tips as a significant portion of income.

Credit card tips are included.
Quote:The bill amends the Internal Revenue Code to create a federal income tax deduction for cash tips — including those given by credit/debit card or by check.

I realise that using cash is better for the business and also I often pay cheaper prices due to removing the unnecessary middle man of a credit card or debit card processing company or bank, so I use cash as often as I can. 40's YO male here.  Businesses also prefer it.  Cash is king. Not even getting into the tracking and 'digital corporate coupon' aspect of the other money they are pushing for.

Yeah, plenty of companies in apparel offer discounts for cash and cash up front. If you pay 50% of your order upfront, you can get a significant discount, well, you could have last year

But beyond that, there is a significant subset that subsists in a cash-only world, it is why liquor stores have a long queue on Fridays

I use cash as much as possible in my every day purchases, but reading reports each day submitted by my taprooms is roughly 85% CC and 15% cash. The CC includes Venmo and other services as well. However, still hope the removal of tax on tips passes Senate. Our team can use every break offered.
