Military helicopter collides with plane, crashes into Potomac River near DC's Reagan National Airport

A military helicopter collided with a plane near Reagan Washington National Airport in Virginia Wednesday night, according to the White House.
 
The American Airlines flight traveling from Wichita, Kan., collided with the military chopper while approaching Runaway 33 at the DC airport around 9 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
 
“I have called over to my counterparts at the White House, and I can confirm that President Trump has been made aware of this situation,” Press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
 
“And tragically, it appears that a military helicopter collided with a regional jet at DCA airport right here in Washington, DC. That’s all I can confirm at this point in time.”
Fireboats were on the scene at the Potomac River in Arlington, the DC Fire and EMS Department posted to X just after 9 p.m.
 
It is not known at this time if anyone was injured or how many people were on board.
 
All takeoffs and landings have been halted, the airport announced on X.
 
The airport will remain closed until 11 p.m., and the ground stop is expected to remain in effect until 10:30 p.m.

We'll have to wait for more information.

I know what is being said about the Helicopter, but I wonder if it could have been a drone? Does anyone have any flight info on the helicopter? 

That Kenndey Center video makes it looks as if the Plane was targeted. I hope that wasn't the case and this was just a horrid accident, but these days we won't know until we have the data.

Its a busy as hell airport every video Ive listened to says a helicopter militarily and specifically a Blackhawk hit a regional jet approximately 60-70 possible passengers

The helicopter was cleared to land runway 33 ?

Having lived in that area, my guess is a helo coming out of the Pentagon. They typically fly down the middle of the Potomac river.

Thank you and to the others for clarifying this fact. I wanted this point made and disputed as soon as possible given how the Kenndey Center video appears, and as we all here should know, conspiracies will grow in a void if not put down quickly.

I heard something about the plane being switched to another runway...but no link.  Seems odd?

Couldn't the collusion be anticipated on radar?
