Well, that's a step towards secession of the state. 

I thought Trump was trying to accumulate more of those.

As opposed to driving them towards active rebellion. 

The fact is, California has strongly opposed many of the federal immigration enforcement actions and has passed laws to limit local cooperation with ICE.

They dont want ICE there, certainly not in the manner they are acting.

My issue with live video feeds like this is that they are sensationalized to the maximum. These aren't general public, peaceful sign-holding protesters; these are the hardcore dissenters and plain old anarchists in a population of 12,828,837

Perhaps I’m too old or narrow-minded or something, but who the heck decided what to protest about, and which agency? 

If someone somewhere is all fired up about certain criminals being brought to justice…

Why choose ICE and why choose to be upset about persons who are present illegally?

Why not attack the DEA for pursuing fentanyl dealers?

Why not the ATF for prosecuting straw purchasers? 

The IRS for holding tax-dodging billionaires accountable?

...and so on and so forth.

I don’t think it’s a huge secret on this one.

LA is majority Latino, while also having some of the most liberal people in the country.

It’s also been a flash point in the past.

TPTB in LA are telling the LAPD to do the bare minimum, these riots aren't huge yet fully deployed LAPD could easily quell this

I don't think this will have too much damage, as immigration was/is one of Trump's strongest points with the country. You could argue the tactics, or the deportation to El Salvador being extraordinary rendition, but if you're here illegally, that's pretty black and white. 

I think the optics could be bad for deploying 20k to deal with a few thousand, but again, probably out of the news cycle as quickly as it came. So long as the presence of troops doesn't inflame the situation more, which I could see as a small possibility.

Again Im fine with protesting, hell Im fine with them marching in the streets till it becomes a complete cluster---- for innocent motorists. 

BUT if you were here illegally, you had an option. It would be great if they could vet the long-term solid contributors from those draining off society 

A country of 340 million can't operate at peak efficiency with such an influx of non-citizens, straining the infrastructure and getting bennies while our veterans and the citizen poor get shat upon.
